An Uncharted movie is now a high priority for Sony apparently...

It's still a trip that CNN put us on blast like that last month...

    Anyway...

Remember when it was announced over the summer (Click HERE) that Kyle Ward was set to write the script for megahit PS3 game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for Sony?

    Guess what?

    Not happening.

Kyle's deal fell apart at the last minute mainly because Sony didn't want to wait around for a draft (from what I was hearing up to a year) while Ward was tied down and contractually obligated to deliver drafts for his other commitments - mainly "Hitman 2."

Apparently, "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" is a high priority project for Sony and producer Avi Arad which is good news for fans.

Not surprinsgly considering Uncharted and the critically acclaimed sequel Uncharted 2 are a megahit for Sony selling a combined 3 million copies and counting.

Sony wants writers that are available and it looks like they found them.

If everything goes through, it looks like writing team Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the duo who wrote the upcoming "CONAN" reboot, will get the Uncharted writing gig.

At press time, negotiations are underway and it looks like a deal is imminent.

Expect to hear it officially in the trades.

"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" follows fortune hunter Nathan Drake, who is a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake. Believing he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue, he embarks on a journey to find it. The search becomes competitive and dangerous when a rival hunter joins the fray and mutated creatures begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets.

So stay tuned as more develops...

Although, I'm an elite hard core PC gamer and don't own a PS3 nor a blu ray player, it looks like come this x-mas I'll rock one of those PS3 slims to see what all the fuss about.

I'm not gonna front, the Uncharted 2 game does look hot.

Here is to hoping that Donnelly and Oppenheimer do the game and it's numerous fans justice.

    Hasta el proximo capitulo...
Let's hope they don't make as big a hash of this as......well....every other game they've tried to turn into a film that isn't Silent Hill

As long as it doesn't end up like the Tomb Raider films it should be ok (or Fools Gold for that matter, good but lacking), Silent Hill was a great movie and I did actually really enjoy Doom.

Bit of luck they will get it right with the script and casting

I didn't enjoy Doom to be fair although that's probably as much to do with Dwayne Johnson as it is the film, Uncharted feels like a no brainer as a film franchise though, much more so than Doom or Resident Evil in my opinion. A sprinkling of Indy here and a smidge of National Treasure there and they could be on to a winner

If the reaction here's anything to go by I hope Sony aren't expecting a big opening day

Oh come on, Tomb Raider is one of the best game to movie adaptions there is, they was all very good and great.

Doom could had been a lot better but as a SCI-FI/Horror it was ok. Silent Hill was a great horror flim, really enjoyed that one.

This Sony game flim, never heard of the game before. o.O
