The GBDS 3D capability actually looks fairly impressive with around Nintendo 64 graphics being rumoured as the spec is fairly similar...
However until proper screenshots showing games taking full advantage of the consoles 3D capabilities it can't be confirmed.

Ok i saw on one of the video game shows on Bravo that mario 64 is in development for it! Along with an eye toy competitor :
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
My bad Vaul, BunjiwebErm, I mentioned it several times (Nintendo's own DS projects) as did Bunjiweb.
The point is that Nintendo will be in a lot of trouble if this new DS fails, it would give the press a feeding frenzy on the apparent decline of Nintendo to remain a competive player in todays markets (with new products) - and that would have a serious effect on the company as a whole reguardless of it's previous success.
And if the PSP is successful could be the fulcrum of this, but as Steve said only time will tell .
I can understand Nintendo's change of tact with the Dual Screen becuase it moves them away from the mobile phone market, who would want to pay £50 on a handheld when they can buy a mobile phone that can do the same?
But Sony appear to be giving the whole package: games of a higher standard, music, mobile and movies, that kind of makes the whole Nintendo offer of Dual Screens look a nit naff especaily if it can't produce the same quality of graphics as the PSP.
As for the Eye Toy...there are a lot of rumours that are apparently starting from Sony that they are going to try and use the Eye Toy as a video phone for the PS3, could be the PSP too by the sounds of it.
Here's the problem, Nintendo have never hidden the fact that they are a gaming company, even when the GameCube was released and it had no DVD playing capability people moaned and Nintendo went on record and I quote "The GameCube is a games console, not a family entertainment system" and thats that, its a console for games, it never boasted the ability to play a dvd or music or anything else for that matter and what did you see, a cheap as chips console which now has plenty of developers behind it and producing some scortcher games, MGS: Twin Snakes for example.
Nintendo have always been a gaming company and they never promised to be anything but that. To this date Nintendo are still raking the money in the gameboys and they clones of it over the year, and the GameCube is starting to sell truck loads once again according to figures released by game stockists.
I don't think we will see Nintendo go the way that Sega did, oh and read the Japanese Playstation magazine (use bable fish to decode it to english ) the PSP after a poll of readers, seems to be an unpopular choice for the readers, all saying there is no point as the PS3 is out soon after it (i.e. a year or two). The games market is a fragile one anyway, the only way we will know the outcome is to sit tight and see what happens

I'm hoping that you'll be able to use the PSP to level up characters (i.e. the world map parts) in things like Final Fantasy or the manangement side of a football game perhaps.
I don't see why you would compare the PSP to the PS3? Unless its an issue of money but japanese don't have this problem on the whole.
I mean you don't see people saying, "oh I am not going to buy a gba because i have a playstation" or whatever...

Sorry to drag this back to the top but this appeared today and it say a lot:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content...e=dev&aid=3384Leading publisher Electronic Arts has committed to supporting the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS platforms, but the recently rumoured move to develop Xbox Live titles is still under negotiation, according to senior company execs.
The financial conference call which accompanied last week's record revenues and earnings figures revealed that the company is hugely optimistic about the prospects for the PSP, which it expects to match the success of the Game Boy Advance, revolutionising the handheld market in the process.
EA will launch four to six PSP games in fiscal 2005 - that's the year ended March 31, 2005 - giving it a substantial launch line-up on the platform for the European and US launches in early 2005. The publisher hopes to replicate its PS2 market share on the PSP by grabbing between a quarter and a third of the marketplace.
Despite its launch title plans, EA doesn't expect PSP to make much of an impact on the bottom line during 2005 - only three million units of the diminutive console will have shipped worldwide by the end of the financial year, after all - but revenues from the platform in 2006 and 2007 should be substantial, it believes.
The forecast for the Nintendo DS is less clear, but EA did confirm that it will be supporting the new platform in some way, as well as continuing its existing development efforts on the Game Boy Advance. More may be revealed at E3.
On the topic of Xbox Live, however, EA exec were non-committal. Although it's widely rumoured within the industry that the company will announce its intention to release Live-enabled titles at E3 this year, investors and analysts were told on the conference call that discussions with Microsoft are still ongoing.
While it's certainly possible that Live support could be on the menu for E3, it would appear that there hasn't been any white smoke from the conference rooms in Redwood Shores and Redmond just yet - a view confirmed by sources within EA who told us last week that as of yet, no development teams at the company have been told to integrate Live support into their games.
Sony must be please having the worlds No.1 publisher in there corner.
But at least that means we'll see Fifa and Madden on the PSP, Guesses on the other 3? I rekon SSX, Tigerwoods and Need for Speed.
