I don't think they ever stood a chance. The big players didn't get a big enough cut. After all, it's 100% for sales from a company-owned web site, and there's no second-hand market on the Web.

... I use now a big vent for the whole machine now, but I cant use it forever, it is my grandma's ventilator...
Thanks for that, if I ever get some time again, I might see if I can contact either the store or look at the warranty documents for any other specifics. I would suspect that there are a lot of warranties out there, so it might be interesting, and as you say, its not really been spoken about before...
RIP GAME. I was hoping they would have a massive sale before closing a lot of their stores but it seems like they won't.
I was talking to one of the chaps that serve me regularly in my local Gamestation today and they have started cutting prices but mostly on used stock. I went down to spend the few quid on my loyalty card on some MS points but after chatting a while I ended up walking away with Dantes Inferno, Crysis 2, Rage and Halo Wars for less than twenty quid instead.
I try not to buy too many used games unless I'm attempting to make sure someone in particular doesn't make a profit off me (Infinity Ward for example) but I quite like my local Game and Gamestation so a few exceptions won't hurt. I'd be a bit sad to see them both go tbh.
You were lucky to get to use your points card. Seems as of yesterday afternoon Game have now stopped gift cards, rewards card, refunds and exchanges. I also gather this will mean the warranties (if through the store) will be worthless now. Fingers crossed a third party is running the warranties.

Round our way its been a bit silly the whole setup between Game & Gamestation.
Washington and Metrocenter come to mind, Game & Gamestation stores within 20 metres of each other. Surely things like this shouldnt have been happening. They should have shut the Gamestation store down when it is so close and moved the staff into the game store.
When they bought Gamestation out they did say they were going to shut stores where the vicinity was close, why they didnt do it I dont know, but hindsight is 20:20 as the old saying goes, could have saved themselves some money. Its a shame really as I did enjoy heading into Game at Metrocenter next to Yellow sector, staff in there were decent guys and gals and did whatever they could to help you.
I also always thought that Game were part of the Dixons group which is also Currys and PC World?
Its quite odd how they could make such a massive failure in store management... i know plymouth was mentioned where they have 1 game store near drake circus shopping centre and just a bit down the town theres another game (original one) and theres also a gamestation inbetween the two, the laughable fact is that there was a game station at the bottom of town and they closed that a good few years or so of owning gamestation, then they relaunched it inbetween both the current game stores... laughable really.
Why reopen a NEW store... may aswell just opened a large game store and cut the costs by 2/3!.
Indeed Hicks12, I also live in Plymouth and found 2 Game stores pointless, ironically they are leaving the smaller one open and closing the larger store at the bottom. The small one near the shopping centre is obviously better placed but is tiny inside.
On a side note I noticed the administrators saying they won't honour game cards/vouchers :/

Yeah, yesterday afternoon they stopped the reward cards, gift cards, exchanges and refunds. Also anything you buy from them now they are in administration, there is no refunds going ahead so if you get a duff item you are stuck with it. Any pre-orders you have with Game also, you've lost the £5 per game you put the deposit down for.

Damn... after all these years i finally made up £2.50 on my reward card online... this is useless!. I couldnt find them cheaper on anything to use it on .
Guess i wont get my £5 pre ordered game, oh well atleast i wont lose my £5!.
Very lucky indeed, I'd heard that was the case but fortunately sometimes it's not what you know but who
It sounds like they don't know what's happening at all warranty wise. I asked about that when he said there'd be no returns for the forseeable future and offered to put the used games through the disk cleaner just to be on the safe side. Everyone in the store was clueless on that front.
I'm not sure if it's country wide but my local stores are pushing the used trade really hard too, they're actually offering more on trade-ins than they were before going into administration. Trying to steal away some of CEX's trade to prop themselves up I'm guessing...
Some of the staff in ireland are a bit annoyed over the closures http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/89...ures-confirmed
There was an article in today's metro that said game had something like a £22 million store rental bill, £12million in staff wages and was owning £30million to suppliers, I think those where the numbers, wish I'd kept it so I could direct quote it.
But then again newspapers can often be rather lacks in double checking their actual figures.

Sorry photobucket links broken
Noticed this on the Game website, well what was the Game website. Looks as though things that are broken can still be returned/refunded :-
