Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

The list of things to survive is rather brief

    1) A copy of this survival guide to serve as a handy reminder in case of head trauma (or dramatic amnesia)
    2) A multi-tool
    3) A source of food
    4) Shelter
    5) A penis replacem... sorry I meant large calibre firearm

    To survive in style however....

    6) Well then that's where you need vodka, a lot of pretty women, and a webcam (if my internet *ahem* research tells me anything about Russia, it's women love guys with webcams especially when drunk)

Please Note that under no circumstances is Option 5 to be combined with Option 6... you're not Duke Nukem!

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!

The trouble is, I'm about as creative as your average breeze block. My best idea is already taken by Jay.
I'll go with choosing your friends wisely.

I'll be sucking up to this bloke.

Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

First up: I need protection. Personal protection for while I sleep, a second pair of eyes.... a guard dog would be best. I can only think of one to really rely upon tbh
    Max.. from MDK2

    Second: Two Weapons:
A close up combat, silent & heavy Baseball bat.. as mentioned before.... and the best one has to be the one from Zombieland

but I also need a gun.. a real gun.. a proper gun. And in all honesty, I'm best with either a Thompson Machine gun from CoD W@W or the STG-44... also from W@W
STG-44 then.. the range is better

I need binoculars....I considered the ones I used a lot in ARMA2... and then realised the best ones belong to Andy...

    who's Andy?

    Andy... from Toy Story

I'll take a couple of CoD4 Claymores too please.. the ones that make that awesome "click" noise when you set 'em off

Would love to enter but wouldn't even know where to start in regards to coming up with a survival guide.... Tbh I don't know enough about the Metro universe to even attempt something.... Good luck to the rest of you and if nothing else one of you needs to loan Solid Snakes Infinate Ammo Bandana because I'm sure ammo is going to be in short supply!

Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

Ok, decided. Will run for an extra 24 hours so from now you have till Midnight Wednesday to get entries in

Rookie, you dont have to really know anything about the Metro universe, there has only been 1 game ion it so far. Basic concept is Nuclear War so everyone goes into the underground rail system to survive while outsiders mutate and try to get in etc. Kind of like Stalker but underground shanty towns. Its an amazing game.

Anyone struggling think if you were in that situation, its like the whole stranded on a desert island what would you want with you. Except replace desert island with a London Underground type system and replace the sun with nuclear holocaust and let your imagination run wild!

Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

Sorry, those weapons are puny. If you're serious about surviving you need the big guns..

*note - this probably contravenes the Geneva convention, but nuclear beggars can't be choosers.

Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

As the dust settled it was clear I was surrounded by nothing more than piles of unwanted Russian vodka, and copies of Putin's last stand. This would at least make good fire kindling so I picked up a few copies.

I figured it was probably time to take stock of what I had and so I layed out the stash that I had so far amassed.

    - Five rolls of Duck-tape (I wish I'd been able to carry more but it's just so darn heavy!)
    - Eight small plastic bottles, 6 of which were full of drinkable water,
    - A small knife I'd picked up, this would have to be replaced with something that could double as a weapon soon enough.
    - Two lighters with very little gas in either.

I added my latest additions to the pile - Four copies of Putin's Last Stand, a book I'm sure no true Russian patriot would mind me using as fire kindling, and for good luck, a bottle of proper Russian Vodka - this would be my last.

I will next update when I've gotten to the other side of the Metro system.

    BGSS.

Re: FORUM COMPETITION - 2 copies of Metro 2033 on Steam

1 - Grooming Kit - Deodorant - nail clippers - hair clippers toothbrush and some Colgate (yes you laugh but there will be some fitty's that also survive and who its going to get lucky, the average looking guy that is well groomed or the better looking guy that has green nashers and smells like a cows arse? ... you know I'm right).

2 - Swiss Army Knife - good for lots of things, unscrewing things, slabbing things preparing road kill that you have found to keep your belly full..

3 - Guns and Ammo - Really don't need to explain this one.

4 - Camera - A Nuclear War would present an awesome opportunity's to get some seriously wicked back drop photo's for when the world returns to normal and Facebook is back up and running and you would make a few quid.

5 - Tesco Club card - Because every little helps

Mine is already packed and ready to go in my titanium plated Austin Alegro.

for everyone who reads this, this is Steve A and you are the resistance .....

    Peace!

Thhis competition is a bit of fun. Look through people's entries so far, most of them aren't 'survival guides' they are, like mine, a list of things that we think would be useful for surviving an adventure in a russian metro system where the main enemies are mutants that were mutated post nuclear war and where conditions above ground are so dangerous due to high radiation that only safe place is to stay in the metro using the tunnels to go between locations in order to complete objectives and finish the game.

Just try and come up something fun and different, I drew inspiration from games that I have either enjoyed in the past or read about and decided that I would take an otherwise quite useless item and try and make more useful.

Rookie1986's Surviving Nuclear Wars for Dummies

If you are reading this then it is likely that nuclear war has occurred and you (plus this book) are some of the lucky..... or unlucky survivors. Over the coming chapters we are going to cover everything you will need to survive in your new surroundings and more importantly maintain your sanity once you realise that EVERYONE you know is dead!

    Chapter 1 - The Rules:

Ten rules to help prepare you for any situation.

1). Cardio - keep in shape, you never know when you might need to get your ass moving.

2). Vodka and lots of it! - Can be used to sterilise wounds, to help start fires & even escape from reality for a few hours.

3). The Double Tap - Shoot and Shoot again, ammo might be hard to come by but you only have one life, when their down make sure they stay down!

4). Beware of Bathrooms - always take caution when you're at your most vulnerable, At least it's not life or death if you forget to put the seat down.

5). A BFG - everyone needs one, even if you don't have any ammo people always think twice about starting on a guy with one and if all else fails it will make a good baseball bat substitute.

6). Buddy Up - Having a companion is one of the best ideas, it will help pass the time, you have someone to watch your back and most importantly make sure you can outrun them just in case

7). Soap - Just because it's a nuclear holocaust doesn't mean you have to go around stinking!

8). When in Doubt, Know your way out - always know your exits.

9). Enjoy the Little things - take time to stop and enjoy the little things in life.

10). This Book - what could you do without it? It offers sound advice to help guide you, you can use it to make you an inch taller, the later chapters tend to drift off a little but make perfectly good fire lighters and it's a kick ass weapon (think Jason Bourne).

That's the basics, now time to move over to Chapter 2 - Is that radioactive and can I eat it......

Well that's my crack at it, not even sure if this is what you were meaning but what ever. Good luck to everyone who has entered
