    Rome: Total War Demo.

Now avalible for download at FilePlanet. Just had a quick blast on the tutorial battle, and its very impressive indeed. I cut down some Gaul warriors, routed them, and chased the barbarian scum from the battlefield.

Suggest all of you go and have a ganders, be good to play a game that requires some thought after Doom III.

Between this, HL2 and Dawn of War, the immediate future of PC gaming looks pretty sweet.

Do you know if the historical battles from BBC2's Time Commanders will be included in the box?

Indeed Aaron, got this, Half Life II, Dawn of War, Championship Manager 5, The Sims 2, Call of Duty United Offensive, and a few more beauties, I reckon, that will emerge in the next few months.

No info on the Time Commanders stuff, be a nice touch though, although as the Time Commanders battles were real historical battles, there would be a decent chance they are in the box.

If you read the IGN preview they have of the game it states that there will be a historical battles mode where you get to have a go at the real thing

I don't know if all of the Time Commanders battles will be included, but I imagine some of them will. They've done the work putting them together, it would be silly not to include them.

Certainly hope so - it should give me something to do tonight

Yeah I have MTW and Vikings here too, that is one game that will stay on my HDD for a long time to come, my main reservation with Rome was seeing all th 3D rendered individual troops, MTW got around the large rendered battle problem by using sprites, but if Rome TW can run well on a fairly modest games rig, then it will be a majour coup

My neighbour is a designer for creative assembly, before you ask, no I can't get any cheap/early copies. Already tried that route But I have been getting the lowdown and he tells me it should come out on time at around Sept 22nd.

History channel has got together with Creative assembly to use the engine to portray some ancient battles. The series is called Decisive Battles and there is an interview on Gamespot about it for those of you who enjoyed time commanders it may be up your street.

Well, I had a go. And it rocks

Ah, if only they'd remake MTW on the same engine
