i saw this on Play.com about 2 - 3 weeks ago, it said it was due for release on 10th September.
i've just checked there today and it is now due for release on 28th january 2005!!
does anyone kno any other release dates??
although this means i have even more time to get my DVD RW drive 160Gb hdd and my X800Pro/XT gpu...

Stalker was moved to avoid clashing with HL2, and THQ's other releases. Apparently it gives them time to polish the game too. So its Q1 2005.

Yup, although it said September on Play, that's the only place I've seen it. Everywhere else I've seen the release date as January. I wouldn't be surprised to see the date slip back, but January would suit me for a slightly belated birthday present.
Still, it'll give me time to give HL2 a good go .... assuming it's out by then

People havent bought decent games in years.
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
no such thing as decent games anymore, not a single game in the last 5 years has even touched on the playability of the games of the 70's/80's Its all about graphics and the best graphics its like the developers are having virtual "my willeh is bigger than yours" look at the likes of robotron and asteroids, they are comming onto if not passed their 20th anniversaries and they are still addictive to this day, unlike UT etc etc or any FPS in general where you buy it, play it and 3 months down the line its forgotten about due to it being the same old thing

You would play asteroids for ages because there was nothing more to play. Now we are spoiled for choice and there are still good and innovative games around. Some of them may have evolved slowly from an originally groundbreaking concept, but they have improved on it.
In fact what started as asteroids then evolved into Elite, Freespace, Freelancer and EVE. Each of these based on previous experience and adding something new.
In fact for a game which lives in the past look at Doom 3. Its in many ways a lot like Doom 1 and 2, but prettier. And the fact that many people don't like it is not because they were too excited about it through hype, but because gameplay of 93 doesn't always cut it these days.
Yes, developers spend a lot of effort on games with fancy graphics engines, but thats because we, the gamers are not gonna buy crude looking games. Also this work with physics and graphics engines will in some cases improve the game, as we will hopefully see with HL2.
I see plenty of games to be excited about. Not all of them are coming out at once, but this will help maintain the excitement.
In fact with graphics getting better and better soon it will be hard to tell the difference between the best graphics which would be say 97% real and the mid-range graphics from licensed engines which will be say at 94%. This will allow developers to purchase engines and tools and concentrate on the game. Its already being done, i know, but in future it will probably be even easier.
