Question Can't create a call of duty LAN server!?

Hi, I want to create a server in call od duty united offensive over LAn so I can play against somebody over my home network. I press start new server put in LAN and then pure or not( they both comeup with the same thing). When i press start it goes to the desktop and finishes with 'hitch warning 27512 msc' or something like that. What do i have to do, should i type something in, thanks, John.

have you upgraded to 1.5 (for cod) and 1.51 for cod:uo
I've never had it crash for me

are you running it on your server or on your desktop? (i.e. as a dedicated server) I get hitch warnings whenever someone joins (for internet games - not lan games) but have never had it crash to desktop.

It doesnt crash, it just goes the the desktop and a load of numbers come up in the console...then it stops at 'hitch warning' I tryed it as LAN so i could host a LAN game from my desktop and somebody could join the lan game downstairs on the computer so i could player against them. SHould i try something different? Oh and the same happens with united offence

ah - hitch warnings are normal - you'll get those as server attempts to send and rec've data from clients. i think it means that it's getting a delay. don't quote me on that - but I get that with mine. don't think I get it so much on lan games. just switch to lan filter on your find server tab, and all will be fine. I'd also get HLSW as it's a good way to quickly monitor server settings

you're trying to run a dedicated server and run the game at the same time -
    I understand now
you should be able to re-launch the game (not that I've tried) and browse fro your local ip under the lan section.

maybe someone else can suggest another way to go about this? I've never tried running the server from the same machine as the client - btw - if you do have a spare machine - copy across the cod folder (preferably to the same location) and spawn the server htat way.

(sorry for the delay in getting back to you)
