    Return to castle wolfenstien

    Evening all.

This afternoon after playing on and off for a month and a half i finally completed rtcw. I know that the game has been knocking about for years. But i have never got round to playing it. What a fantastic game it turned out to be. Absolutly loved every minute of it - except the fact the ending seemed a bit drawn out, and then when it finally came it was a bit suddenly and poor.

Ok so the graphics arent what some people want, it runs on a Q3 engine for those that dont know, yet it wasnt as if the graphics were lacking a great deal. Fair enough there were a couple of squarey heads about, and no DX9 glamorous feature but it didnt spoil the game play one little bit. It was fantastic running it in 1600x1280 with AA/AF on and it just cruizing through at an easy 60fps. How many people can do that now with Far cry/HL2/D3!? only those with very expensive computers. Not a xp1700 (1.8), 512mb, and an r9700.

What i dont get is why details have to be so good on modern games. Most computers cant handle them and they spoil the game play with long load times and low resolution/fps, as long as the graphics arent so bad they ruin the game play, and resonably nice, thats fine by me. Game play/story line is far more important in my view.

For those that havent played - i suggest you do, really enjoyable.

    Will.

I'll have to find it and give it a go should be able to get it for around a tenner now, I finally completed far cry yesterday after not playing it for about 2 months. Only just did it though, threw a couple of grenades at doyle and one bounced back right next to me!! Lucky the first one went off killing him first.

Best thing about RtCW is that it spawned Enemy Territory, IMHO the most fun online game

That game had a hugw build up then got released, talked about for a few weeks then just seemed to fizzle out when everyone clocked it.

I really enjoyed it (played through it again last November) but towards the end it became a bit boring and extremely drawn out. Last few levels I was thinking is it ever going to end ?

Once you worked out the zombies and lopers go down with just a touching of flamethrower the majority of the last few levels were quite easy. Must give the SP game a go again sometime, esp as the last time I played it was on a GF2MX! I've got a slightly better setup than blockers now so hopefully I should be able to get 16x12 out of it.

I think I had a similar problem when a mate of mine asked me to try it. What he said to do was download a program called "The All-Seeing Eye". This finds any online games you have on your computer and searches for servers for them. I don't know what it did, but it fixed the problem for me.

BTW - I found this game VERY confusing and overly complicated.

    You found ET overly complicated?

I loved it, choose your class, fight over say 4 maps ranking up as you kill stuff and getting better skills over the campaign it was a very nice reward system for palying well
