Metal Gear Solid 1 game problem

Good afternoon folks, here's the problem. I've beaten the game, sat through the credits etc. I'm expecting the end screen to pop up and allow me to save my completed game. Unfortunately, it stays put at the final credit screen. Does anyone know why this is happening ?

    Thanks in advance

Yeah. Tried switching on and off all the different BIOS settings like AA, faster loading and the like. Disc is perfectly clean.........I'm stuck.

Start up a new game and find out if you have either the bandana or the stealth suit in your inventory.

You can't finish the game on the ps2 no-matter what settings you use, save the game bang it in a ps1 and finish it off and you'll get the full ending and a bomuns (stealth or the bandanna)

Oh god. That is unbelievably unfair. The thought had crossed my mind but I didn't believe that it would be a PS2 compatability issue.

I've never actually heard that, but then again last time I played MG:S was way back on the PS1, that’s really sad. One of the best games EVER.

Yep, its one of the few games that ps2's aren't compatible with. I only found out when I went back to complete it before MGS2 came out.
