I guess they're hoping to sell because of the name.

The original Story of Doom & the retold of Doom3 were cool with a lot of imagination & plot.
If used right they could have made a nice movie.

The report says that screenwriter, Dave Callaham, was keen to keep the atmosphere of the game intact whilst making some 'necessary' story changes. The changes? Well, Doom won't be set on Mars. The monsters have nothing to do with Hell. Space marines are SWAT teams. The monsters will, apparently, be people mututated by a secret virus.

How bad can you get?
I guess this wil be even worse than AVP!

Doom, not on Mars and no Demons. What are they going to do with that then ? Sounds like they have the wrong people for the job there.

On another note Constantine is now a game and is loosley based around the Hellblazer Dark Horse comics.

well the answer is quite simply

they just copied the original doom story for doom3, thus saving story writing space for their movie, which is completely different to both games

Its alll about arses in seats and satanism in theu.s does not mean arses on seats, Not the kind they wanbt anyway, sounds like they're trying for a resident evil style action film rather than a more horror tinged movie, am still interested to find out how they do it though.

They could have done something great with this license, really dark and sinister atmosphere. Perfect for a great horror film

I reckon it will be a good gun fest - i mean they have tested it on Res Evil film and that was s..rubbish because there was too little shooting (like the game) - Doom was all about Kamikaze infinite ammo madness, if there aint shooting and killing start to finish it will blow.

the first person end sequence sounds cool to me, i think i will wait and see.

Sorry but the makers of the Doom movie should be ashamed of them selfs, they have probably never played the game, but hey its all about making money, people will watch it people will probably think it is pants but it will make money,

PS, AVP was a load of proverbial pish tbh, spoiled but previous films (aliens and Predetor)
