You really should try Warhammer before you dismiss it. Forget it's history, just give it a go. Definitely the best RTS out there atm imo.

Perhaps you should get those stereotypes out of your head and actually try the game, before you start to insult the people who play it. I had never played any Warhammer computer games before DoW, never even played Warhammer board games or painted any figures (respect to those who can tbh, I certainly don't have the skill) but I think this is one of the best, no it is the best, RTS out at the moment. I would even rate it over the aging, yet favourite amongst many, Red Alert 2.

Warhammer gets a thumbs up here, as does Empire Earth 2 if your looking for a RTS that can take up over 3 hours per skirmish match

    Generals was a bit rubbish I though...Stonghold 1 was rubbish...will 2 be any better?
AOE original was good but a bit extreme...2 was dumbed down and a bit lame again...
Havent seen a really good RTS for a while actually...

Its nothing like RTW, it has a campaign mode but its more like a very very basic RTW campaign map with Rise Of Nations style missions.

Its good, nice to see 18th century units fighting it out and theyve certainly done it well, but the campaigns and scenario missions are dull (for some reason they havnt even included any of the British battles from the Napoleonic era) so it really only leaves multiplayer and skirmish. This isnt so bad because most skirmish games will take the best part of 5 hours to finish. Good for fans of the era and the series but probably not for anyone else.

There is another similar game coming out called Imperial Glory, due out very soon, this looks much better using 3d RTW style graphics and seems to include a more in depth campaign + the trailers show some really impressive glimpses of the naval battles.

    Agreed.

DOW is a quality game, though bit lacking in SP.

    IMHO

Empire Earth II is ****e, save your money, very disappointed in it after EE.

Roll on AoE3 though the strat genre is getting a bit stale.

Can't wait for Battlefield2 release 38 days 9 hours 37 minutes to go
