take into consideration that most game developers will be cross platform, except for halo 3, which will be solely xbox 360, i think theres a sure winner

Playstation 2 had many more exclusives than the Xbox and Im guessing that will much much the same this time round. But Ill buy all 3 anyway.
Exactly, and hu wants to support the billbox anyway...Originally Posted by TheBuZZard
I suspected this. Personally I think it will be £400+ to begin with. Microsoft are obviously taking advantage of the early release (probably 10 months before the new Sony is out). But I bet by the time the PS3 is out, the price of an xbox will have come down quite a bit. No doubt the later released PS3's RRP will be lower so they can compete with it more. Then we will see more agressive pricing I hope.Goldman Sachs expects Microsoft will move approximately 3 million Xbox 360 units in the December quarter, "with demand exceeding supply". Goldman noted that the console could be sold at a retail price that is more than it had expected.
"With the worldwide availability in the December quarter, likely strong initial demand, and the added cost of the hard drive [estimated at $30], we might see a higher initial price."

Not decided yet. I'll wait to see what they're like once they're out and what games are available.
It goes round in circles, every few year when a new console hits the market, I have had all the previous consoles (Gamecube, X Box and PS2) X Box I had for approximately 2 months, HALO was great but then I started to get bored so sold it on as it was nowhere near as good as my PC. I enjoyed the PS2 but it finally died on me just before Christmas so sold the games etc and didnt bother replacing it due to a new one coming out soon.
Only console I have now is the Gamecube, my other half plays on it mainly Mario and Zelda, things like that. But with the PC always moving forward I will be sticking with PC gaming.
As for buying another next gen console. I'm personally going to wait and will most likely get the next Nintendo offering rather than X Box or PS3, yeah they both look great, but I have to say I have a bit of a soft spot for Nintendo
Halo 2 sucks though... Why would you want a 3rd?!Originally Posted by theonlycarmire
*both* plus PSP =)
Glad at least one other person agrees with me, I thought it was one of the most boring FPS released.Originally Posted by Yohji

halo 2 was good, but it suffered from something a lot of games suffer from, forcing you to play both sides of the story. Its a story driven FPS and having you swtich between Master Chief and the Arbitrator breaks any immersion in the plot.
Il get an xbox 360 before the ps3, but will probably get both.
According to the newspapers the intended release price for the xbox 360 is around £160, the ps3 £200 and the nintendo £80+ (no confirmation).
I think you will have to almost double those prices to get near the actual retail price on launch.Originally Posted by varkdm
The PS2 was £300 so I assume this gen will be at least that.

Yeah, there's no way they're gonna be that cheap!
Halo 2 wasn't nearly as good as the original (it didn't really wow me at all) but it was still loads better than Half Life 2.
hmm i dono about the prices, microsoft has pretty much accepted that for them to make the real profits on the xbox, its profitablility on the games not the console, if they shift tons of xboxs, they sell tons more games and make tons more profit, so they are quite keen to encourage early sales by keeping the prices relatively reasonable. They want to milk the fact its being released before the ps3, so to capitalise on that they need to shift as many units as possible, to make sure the "not sures" by in as quickly as the "deffinitely getting" crowd, a low launch price will clinch it.
It may be they simply cant stop the retailers whacking up the price, but they certainly arnt intending it to be a high price.
