This sucks :/ Its like being told that the movie of the year is coming out in a month, a day before they then tell you that it isnt going to come out for another year because a film reel was stolen.

What can they do now? They cant exacly reprogram everything, what would the point in that be?

I do blame Valve more than anybody as there is alwas someone trying to get in a mess things up where ever you go. The bigger you are the bigger your defences should be.

what i dont get is...

was the -whole- source stolen (and then compiled), but only some of it released to the 'public' - hence vavle saying only 1/3 of the source had been stolen..

or

was 1/3 of the source stolen, and then somehow a beta was leaked... (ie e3 demo thing)..

i think the former, but why would valve lie when they -knew- that the game would be leaked as soon as people managed to compile all the sourcecode..

it really hasnt been valves week/month really..

The source code was leaked via being hacked. From various reports ive read, it seems like they downloaded a compiled version aswell from the same computer.

ive seen some screenshots of it, not sure if im allowed to link to them, but the game looks past doom3 e3 leak in terms of comleatness ... and i think that was being ran on a ti4200, which is nice, no need for everyone upgrade yet

I reckon after effort of the original Half Life, and the amount of work and effort into this one, Valve are deserving of my dosh. The first time I play this game will be after installing it from my pristine shrink wrapped copy bought off the shelf.

Just did a few searches out of interest. Well I found something described as Half Life 2 iso's, so assuming they aren't fakes then they must be out there. Nope I'm not going to download it either.

i will... i downloaded doom3 leak, and i dont regret that!
i download a lot of games, if i play them then i buy them very soon after - its just to check if its any good as demos usually only show the best bits, and a lot of games i get bored with on the intro (halflife 1 - my brohter had done the 1st level for me and i stole his save) so its a good thing, ive got a few games that cost £30 each that ive not even installed yet!
also i wanna check my pc is capable of playing it, so i know if i should save up some more £££ before it gets released, oh and also to be amazed by the good gfx

how is that stupid? firstly i dont think i should pay £30 for a game that was made by half arsed coders, not that valve are, but they got hacked, so theyve done sommin wrong.
im not buying it untill it runs playably, if i can test it then ill know what i need to get, valve will get there money sooner. i will defiantly be buying it, cant wait to play it online...

if there's no story and people dont know if MP works WTF's the point? Its like the Doom3 alpha leak - WTFs the point in dling it? Its frikkin alpha and was 2 years from complete.

I'll just wait on my pre-order from play.com still as ever. Valve will deserve my money at the end of the day, even though their people need a slapping with a security manual.

I know I won't be downloading anything to do with this game until they start bringing out patches for it. Why spoil it by playing a uncomplete version?
