Cos to rip and then copy the DVD to my phone I'm going to need specialist knowledge and software... So is the time spent doing it all worth the £20 it would cost to just buy the film?... I think, for many people, the answer will be no, it's not, so they'll go buy the film on memory card and be happy.

I agree for many people the answer is no, but saving £6, £10, or whatever when it only takes a few mins. What if you buy 10 or more films? it's a HUGE saving when you do it in quantity. Plus the software is no harder than using itunes really.

People are not stupid, even the most technically illiterate people know that a DVD averages at £12 compared to the £20 price of these mobile memory card versions. I think the most likely answer that most people just won't bother at all.

What would be better is being able to pop into carphone warehouse and have a DRMed version of the movie transferred to your existing memory card (or in 12 months your phone HDD, as plenty will then). Or simplely using an Itunes video type service. I really can't see the memory card model being a big thing, especially with most people not wanting to watch full length movies on a mobile.

But are we sure they will definatly retail at £20?
