Why cant i play special forces?

Got Special Forces the other day but i cant play multiplayer.

Whatever server i choose, it loads the map then wen the join game button appears it takes me out back to the server list and says

This server only allows players with unmodified content, revert your game back to original copy

i thought it was because i patched it to 1.12 so i reinstalled but i still get the same problem.

BF2 is a good game but it just gives me so many probs GRRRRR

I got the same error - I think it might have been the intro movies I removed, but I had to uninstall the game today anyway so maybe a reinstall will work

Alot of people including me had alot of trouble with punkbuster not updating. I used to have the exact same problem when they integrated it into SOF2. It would load the game and boot out back to desktop. No reason why. But my said rung me and she said I had been booted out by punkbuster. Or it could also be the second option.

First option go to punkbuster site and download the manual updater
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php and place it in ur Punkbuster file and set it going manually. That worked for me a couple of times. Probably because of router issues, although I can't tell.

Second option is...... set you video resolution in game back to something standard like 1024x768 apply and reload the game. Sometimes messing with resolution in windows mucks up the game. I've found if I changed my desktop res I have to reset ingame res to something lower than it was apply then run the game. It would then take me into the game.So I'd close it down and change the Res to something that suited me then apply, run the game again and it worked. God knows why it does this when you change desktop resolutions in windows. It shouldn't matter but it does for me. Had the same problem again last night so the special forces patch doesnt help in the slightest!

Those are the only problems I have. My monitor just for help is FPW2005 Dell WS. and Graphics card is a 7800gt was having the same problem in my 5900xt and Ati X800XT so it makes no difference which gfx card I use

I was kinda hoping there would be a quicker fix than that :O i mean that would take all day! lol

    Nope

and its not the punkbuster issue, had that before, and not the resolution issue coz, after the clean install i set all the settings blah blah restart the game like it says....

will try a full reinstall of BF2 + patches then SF without patch try it, then maybe put the newest patch on

thanks for all the help guys, sorry for late reply, been in work.

    When I went:

    BF2 -> 1.02 -> 1.03 -> 1.12 -> BF:2 Special Forces

I was also getting that error, but then re-running the 1.12 update fixed it. Have you definitely tried re-running the 1.12 update after you installed SF?

That must be it! ive done a complete reinstall BF2 > 1.03 > SF > 1.12 > map loaded as before but it actually went into the game!!.... then it quite back to desktop.

so.... im nearly there.. wot do i do to become more special?

i gave up in the end, its just very frustrating when all you want to do is have a nice little bash on BF but end up bashing your computer instead.

    out.
