My parents are in the US on vacation and offered to buy me something before they leave on Friday. I'm thinking of asking for a joystick to help with BF2, but which brand/model should I look at? Joystick reviews are mighty sparse on the net.

If it's just for BF2 then one of the simpler sticks would be your best bet...
This TekSpek over at SCAN, (apparently written by a devastatingly good looking writer) should help you out.
I've got a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2, does the job on BF2, although I can't fly to save my life!!

So we thought we'd aquire 1 for the LAN weekend for a bit of BF2 pwnage. Baka now loves that joystick for BF2 and tomorrow at midnight I am going to get myself one for IL2 and BF2.
Ooooo maybe it's time for an upgrade. That looks well nice, not bad price either.
EDIT: This is USB right?
The Saitek's an interesting looking joystick, though the Amazon reviews seem to be mixed. Wouldn't want to buy one, only to have it break, especially since I have little chance of returning it. :/
I've looked at the X-52, but I've not really go that many flying games to warrant buying it.Originally Posted by Nick
Get me a link to a nice combat flight sim and I might have to sell a kidney to buy one
Got one of these too, its cool. Only complaint is that after being unused for a while the trigger takes a while to start working again, might be dust.Originally Posted by Lee @ SCAN

I'm sure that Richard (or his replacement after his promotion) would sort you out in the event - you have a 2 year warranty.
Just to clarify, I live in South Africa - a looong way from Bristol.

I used to be well into flight sims and had a luvverly Thrustmaster HOTAS setup, complete with rudder pedals. Made the whole flight thing much more enjoyable and controllable without having to resort to the keyboard. Buttons everywhere ! Mind you, this was a few years ago before they were taken over so I've no idea what the quality is like these days.
Their Cougar setup looks nice though http://www.thrustmaster.com/eng/d_prd.php?p=T65&fam=6
Now where did I put my pilots headset
