    ET: Quake Wars

There is alot of talk about EA's Battlefield 2's problems and how people are skeptical as to whether they will purchase Battlefield 2152 for fear of the game suffering from the same problems...

But yet i've not seen anyone (aside from me in another thread) mention that they'll be looking into getting Enemy Territory: Quake Wars instead. In fact i've noticed there is little talk of this dispite its large expectations and its amazing show at E3 this year.

Is there any reason to this? Are gamers loosing interest in the Quake series? Or has EA's advertisements for 2142 just completely over shadowed Quake Wars that few people have heard about it?

    Not really.

I think it's a case of everyone thinks the screenshots are in fact too good to be true and look like pre-renders.

As such I am awaiting the final release of the game to be available so I can install and play it before I judge it

I lost interest in the Quake series after Quake =)

the Quake II storyline was a pants direction to go - the first game was the most fun out of the lot of them...so really not looking at whats to come from quake anymore. Although an updated version of Quakeworld would kick ass..

I'm very much looking forward to BF2142 tbh - I don't have most of the problems that people seem to have (a small minority of players that is..but shouldnt get into that again here), but either way the best thing is to wait and see I think..

It's always seemed to me that since Q3, id have been more about producing engines than games.

ET:QW is being done by Splash Damage rather than id and is being shown off at Quakecon this week. There's a good presentation vid at the link below. Personally, I'm looking forward to it as I've never liked the BF games much and these large environment games are the way forward for FPSs, so it'll be nice to see how the megatexture system holds up and also what Unreal Engine 3 can do when that comes out.

I personally try to avoid EA games like the plague. They are always bug ridden and frustrating to play.

Thats a bit of a sweaping generalisation..as bad as (to steal from a well known band)
"and that this is no more right than saying all teenagers are drunken dope addicts or glue sniffers"

Not all EA games are bug ridden etc, just some of them...and again most of those bugs are due to people haveing none standard pcs, overclocking etc. True i'm no EA fan ( I miss westwood, EA pacific just aint the same) but you cant say every game they have is bug ridden and frustrating..

Im not avoiding EA games but I certainly wouldn't defend them - my opinion is that EA do not support their products as well as they could (should?)

That's true, it was a bit of a generalisation.

I've just had too many bad experiences with EA Games, I can't even remember the last EA game I bought that wasn't hugely dissapointing and overcome with bugs.

ill definately be buying it all the previews seem really positice and it looks like a great game

but i will NEVER buy another bf game again, ill try and steer clear of EA titles but that might be hard, i hate them with a assion, they spat out the bf series and turned it into a poorly designed bug ridden pile fo junk, they dont at al listen to the community or support their products they just release patches that add new gameplay features that are usually crap and nobody wants instead of fixing gameplay bugs

quake wars looks awesome, the vids out at the moment show that it actually looks as good as the screenshots when running,
i tried BF2 for about 20mins but didnt like the political slant on it,
quake wars is more my kind of cheesy sci fi thing

The previews are ALWAYS positive, its like marketing.

But yes am looking forward to but am going to wait and see on the buying it in case we have another BF2. I normally do ok an dnot have many bugs but BF2 was really hard to get going, spent nearly a day optimising for it to play proper!

I hope they sort it out because occasionally they do make some good games and I'm scared C&C3 will be bugged! Like are like the ITV of the software world...
