It's not a patch on the humour and fun of GTA and I feel just focuses on violence rather than gameplay
The "initiation" where you have to beat up a couiple of gang members starts off the game in a way that is kinda sinister.
GTA is violent - but done in a funny and light hearted way - this is not
I think this is a great game, well it's not as good as a GTA game IMO, but it's good enough for the wait for GTA IV.
What I'd really like if for Rockstar to re-release Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas but add the improvements they made through the series to all of the games, like the better weapon system, etc.
any other sites with general tips etc? especially on flying
hi i finished the first mission of the game aka back to basics but after that no missions appear anymore... i have done loads of the activities and my respect meter is up to nearly 6x! i go to the map and scroll through the filter options and their are no missions for me to do!
has your phone been ringing at all?
some of the missions are triggered by a phone call
NOPE no rings, nothing. is their anyway of knowing if i missed a call or somthing?
what shows under objectives from the pause menu?
Arrived this morning and I've been playing this game all day, it's fantastic.
Better than GTA in some ways, but also worse in others.
I like the aiming system, and the weapon select system is pretty intuitive, the map is also very well done, I love how you can set waypoins and filter it for different things. The explosions are
I also think that it cuts out alot of frustration that the GTA games cause. There are many small features I think are great too, like being able to take passengers hostage when you jack a car, and the gang wanted meter. They all add up to making it a fantastic first attempt at the genre.
Ditto that mate, I've been hooked on this since I bought it. Really great that you can keep weapons and stuff when you get busted or killed (as it saves faffing trying to get to the gun shops all the time). Its also nice being able to restart on a really tough mission; I gave up on GTA for its unforgivingness at times.Originally Posted by Veles
The comment on silly missions is true too - I gave up on GTA:SA on that stupid one where you have to shoot down the planes that try to knock out the satellites.
The combat works very well, shooting is accurate. This makes the recovery missions for various sections of the city under fire a real laugh: the gang war environment they have created it brilliant; far more active that GTA - you really feel a need to run and hide to reload etc.
Overall: Very impressed.
Personally I won't be buying it, its not "Sandbox" enough for me to like it. Basically I loved playing about in GTA doing all the crazy jumps etc and using the cheats to basically turn you into a god. Saints Row just hasn't got that in it, even the cheats are a bit dissappointing. Crackdown on the other hand.... that looks amazing.
Play-asia.com have just got it back in stock. For £23 delivered, I couldn't refuse.
Tom, not that I'm trying to tempt you or anything, but: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=85290 *wink wink*
