PS3 - based on the G70 with 256MB VRAM at 650Mhz, I believe the core speed is around 500Mhz. So its essentially a 7800 GTX.
Xbox 360 - 48 unified shader units, 1 core with 2 x 500Mhz dies, one of which has 10mb eDRAM and shares 512MB ram with system
Whereas I have absolutely no idea about the Wii, I imagine its around the performance of a X1300/X1600 or something in between (it can only manage 480p :S), which as people have said before is largely irrelevant since its about playing experience with the Wii
Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400Mhzx8) 1.52V (set in bios, 1.47v real) | 4GB GeIL PC6400 4-4-4-12 | Gigabyte DQ6 @ 1600Mhz | HD2900XT 1GB | Enermax Infiniti 720W | Silverstone TJ07-B with custom watercooling | BenQ FP241WZ
3dmark05 - 13140 | 3dmark06 - 6698 | SuperPi 1M - 15s
The Wii has a system spec close to that of the GameCube.
/\ they are essentially the same except for the controller, doesnt bother me i had a blast playing monkey ball on the gamecube, mind you it was my mates and i only played it after a heavy night out beer goggles made the graphics look sweet!
I read this claim from Crytek a while back but couldn't see where all the fuss was coming from. I've always thought it's only a matter of time before PC's obliterate everything that consoles can do visually. It just makes sense, how can a console which never changes keep up with a constantly evolving PC?
Consoles however have the other benefits which make them stand out. For me those benefits are the quality of games and most importantly the even, fair playing field. You know everybody has the same system. Where as on PC you tend to know that everyone has different 'hax'.
To the Xbox 360's benefit, it has been available for almost a year already. Therefore users have been able to enjoy it's HD goodness for quite a while already and I'd go as far as to say it's the most visually stunning gaming platform available right now.
The PS3 having hit the market a little late unfortunately might not be able to offer the best out there. By the time we get it here in Europe we'll also have Windows Vista PC's and probably some DirectX10 titles which will probably look better than anything the consoles have to offer.
I've just never seen any graphics on any console that can't be beaten by a good PC (and totally murdered in most cases by a really new PC) - and with a good monitor we can also run at higher than 1080i resolution remember...
BUT I wish a lot of the games you get on consoles also came out on PCs - I loved Powerstone on the Dreamcast, Super Monkey Ball, etc.
The Wii is interesting from a retro gaming view, so I'm not all about excellent graphics all the time! But I wouldn't say it's a matter of time, I'd say (some) PCs obliterate all the consoles out now including the Xbox360 and I wonder whether PS3 will compete.

Its also going to be so much cheaper, so i dont think its trying to be something its not - even with that new fancy controller system. I do think it has alot of new nintendo titles which will help, but the graphics arent going to be up to much so it will be down to gameplay.
