    PS3 Problems?

A friend of Mine's husband works for Sony, and according to him, they have been having major problems with the processor in the new playstation 3 where the PS3 keeps on crashing, they are also having problems with the cooling device.

He said that they have to release it regardless otherwise the amount of money they will lose will be phenomenal.

I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything like this? This was just in passing convo, if i get a chance i will try and fish for more info!

Well, it's only out in Japan so far so I haven't read anything about any problems. It could well be true though.

Sony have had a lot of problems. But new consoles tend to, so by itself it's not too significant.

They have had to delay launch repeatedly, as well as cut the number of consoles available. That will have a big impact.

We have to wait and see if the problems reported with demonstation models are all sorted with the release models.

All new products have problems. No that I doubt you but I don't think a 'sample' amount is representative of the final product.

I thought all the delays were due to a shortage of blue lasers for the BlueRay drives? Probs with the CPU is a new one to me. I had heard that some of the PS3s on display at the Tokyo gaming show were crashing but to be fair they were running in fully enclosed cases so they were bound to overheat.

There is no way that Sony would have released the PS3 if there were major problems with processor.

Just can't see it. That would be worse than the stick they would get for delaying it.

I'm calling FUD on this one, there have been no reports of any such problems at all, the only issues so far are the constrained availability, and some ps2/ps1 games have backwards compatibility issues (which will be patched at a later date).

    Actually, it is very significant.

Considering the Xbox 360 only have an Overheating Problem when it first came out. Other than that, not many problems really.
