    Microsoft Xbox 360 Headset Voice Communicator

    Do you have to use this or can you use any other Headset and Mic that you would use on a PC ?. I'm new to this kind of thing and am looking at buying an XBox 360 for my nephew for christmass, just thought the microsoft one dident look much good, any advice would be most appreicated thanks in advance cheers.

    i think you have to use an xbox360 one. I would be surprised if this wasnt the case. I have one and they are perfectly fine and comfortable as well. The one for xbox 1 hurt my ears after a while!

    Anyway, if you buy a premium xbox (the one with the HDD and wireless controller) you get a headset included.

    yeah its true ya know, the old one did hurt! but the new one is great, and yes you have to use the official one

    I agree that the old one hurt, havent tried the 360 one yet.

    you can use any headset that uses a combined 35mm phono jack (most pc headsets have 2 seperate 35mm jacks).

    I've used the Halo headset from my original x-box with my 360 and it works fine. the only thing you lose is the volume and mute controls as these are on the dongle that is built into the original 360 headset jack. but saying that you can alter volume through the on screen menu.

    TBH the 360 headset is alot better than the old headset, even for people like me that have to wear glasses (most headsets press the arm of my glasses into the side of my head and after a while it does tend to hurt, the 360 headset is nice and light and hasn't done this yet).

    If you wait for a bit, there's about to be a wireless version of the 360 communicator released.
