I didn't bother, I got a leaflet thingy in my 360 box about it, think it was about £60-70 for an extra 2 years warranty, if your 360 keeps dieing then I'm sure it's probably worth it.

I don't know, i would look at it as if your xbox hasn't died yet its more likely to happen (as dead xbox's get replaced )

For small amount of money I may get it, 2 more years of cover... just seems worth it

It's possibly worth extending. A friend told me he's got to pay £105 to get his 360 fixed - I think he said he's not a getting a picture on his screen or something. Seems a bit expensive.

You call Xbox support and they should be able to run through the process with you over the phone, keep your credit card to hand.

I thought about it myself but decided against it, my warranty expired 4 days ago so my fate is now in my consoles hands.

All I will say is take it out now, mine bricked 3 days out of warranty (I'm almost positive it was thanks to the new xbox live update - theres a 61 page thread on xbox.com forums about it).

I had to do some constructive thinking (lying) to get it replaced by Game.

If you get "frozen" screens - i.e. the picture freezes on screen and the console only responds after you turn it off at either mains or power button on front of console, its on the way out. Its particularly common in CoD3 for some reason.

Jsut to prove a point about how hot these things are running, check out what this guy did to his "bricked" 360: http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/dat...ex.html#661839

I don't bother the warranty. I cheat it very carefully, so i expect it'll last a long time.

Just phone up GAME customer service line, explain that it broke within the year but you've been unable to get to a shop due to your job.
When i worked at GAME we used to replace consoles out of the 1yr without any questions. If people wanted they could have invoked the Sales of goods act, which allows for a claim up to 6 years after purchase (link).
A year is not a reasonable time for a £300 console to work - hence why we always replaced it.

Exactly what I did 2 days ago, I said it broke the night I left to go on a weeks holiday though so it broke within warranty, I was just unable to bring it to them.

I got a comet extended warranty when I first got mine, which cost the same as a microsoft extended warranty but covered it for 5 years and for accidental damage as well. Looking at the comet website now though it seems like they've reduced it to 3 years cover.

Well you have a warranty for the next 5/6 months, so its up to you.

I'm gonna get the extended warranty for my new unit, as I really can't justify £200 every year for another core unit.
