HEXUS FOLDING TEAM It's EASY
If they do decide to extend it to CS:S then I wouldn't really mind them in the scoreboard or in spectator mode as long as they're reasonably obscure.
But any advertising within the game world is a NO NO for me as I just can't help but think that game play might be affected in some form unless valve are diligent in placing them in maps.
lol remember the UK2 servers that used to have floating and spinning adverts on all their maps? that was BAD!

There's been quite a few news stories about In-Game Advertising in general, and it looks like it'll be more and more so we'll just all have to put up with it
Valve are actually unbelievable. They slowly made cs worse over the years and then they abandoned it all together for source which was an awful, buggy imitation. Now they want to use it for testing purposes... I know it's their game and they can do whatever the hell they want with it but the fact that so many people play it still goes to show how great it was/is. Surely it would be best to try this in one of their other games that doesn't have such a huge player base?!
Source is a different game altogether to 1.6 but it does have considerable flaws when it comes to FPS and hit boxes.
This is probably why they always play 1.6 and not Source at gaming tournaments which is a shame.
But I agree Valve's efforts lately have been lacklustre to say the least when it comes to adding content for Source as I would've liked them to have released more remakes of old maps like de_vegas or cs_747 instead of this DWP nonsense.
There were majour issues on release but much better now

Source is arcade twitch balls, it has completely wrecked the whole tense feel of CS. I mean you used to have to crouch and shoot to get someone in the head, now you can run around getting headshots with macs.
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx
I don't like the way they're planning to implement the adverts myself. I wouldn't mind them if they done in the right way. For example, if the vending machines in office were proper coca cola machine, then that'd be fine. Same if the PCs were Dell PCs. If it's done in a decent subtle way then I have no problems, but the way it sounds so far looks really bad.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
lol BF2142 has in game advertisement on the billboards... so its well done I haven't even noticed one yet.

Don't really give a toss about the ads, as long as i'm not forced to look at them before a game starts (an enforced wait period, loading screen I wouldn't mind). The thing that gets my goat is the fact there will invariably be some form of monitoring/logging that will collect some form of data and store it on databases in the US.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
