Gears of War - Cant get any online games :(

Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

It lists all the games, connects and then disconnects me saying that my connection has been lost.

Other games work ok online, xbox live marketplace works ok, Im all up to date with updates, so im a bit stumped.

    Any ideas?

If you connect to a server that already appears to be nearly full, by the time you press A it will probably be full and so that error message is displayed. Try connecting to fairly empty servers as they generally fill up quickly anyway. If this doesn't work, try forwarding these ports on your router.

It connects to the game and then kicks me off and says that my connection was lost.

This happens with or without the router, which leads me to believe that it is the game, although, that is only a guess.

do what odc says, if you got a strict nat, that can be a problem too

Is there an option to turn on DMZ for your 360 on your router ?

Which model do you have ?

I've been playing the game quite a bit over the past week so to start with I can confirm that the servers and such are working.

Have you downloaded the map pack from Live Marketplace? I'm not sure what happens if you try to join a server running the new maps if you don't have them, but I'm sure it'd cause a problem of some sort.

Last but not least, try running the Network Connection Test in the System Blade on your 360 dashboard. Once the test is complete, let us know what your NAT status is.

There is no router, I removed it for testing, so that is out of the equation.

I have all patches, updates and the new maps.

Im just finding it really odd that I can play COD3 online (with or without the router), but not GOW.

    Still stumped.

P.S. from googling this, it seems that lots of people are having this problem, no fixes though.

This happens to me too. Also, whenever i play GOW online the game freezes This never happens in single player.

I played a co op with someone. We got through two acts and on the last level of the game, it froze

Luckily, im not that bothered about online gaming but if i was i would be annoyed that its such a poor expereince (in terms of stability). I'l give COD3 a try and see if thats any better.

Hmm this is pretty odd. I only ever get that message if I join a server that's full
