Ouch!

Was in the middle of "modding" an old ish PC and case, making a few enhancements (haven't modded owt for a while and choose this afternoon to play!). All was going well, and I was trying to take apart a cdrom drive to replace the LED, when my thumb must have slipped pretty hard against the metal casing, cos the next thing I saw was blood pouring everywhere.

Indoors I went, held it under the sink for a few minutes. As a result I was feeling REALLY faint and threw up once.

So now here I am with a bandage round my thumb, typing wtih one hand!

All that because of a silly CDROM drive!!

And it took about 3 times as long as normal to type this!

Well just thought I'd let you all know, as you do!

Anyone else had any painful results from modding those damn computers?

I've suprizingly got away without too many scars from modding, worst was prob trashing a good pair of trousers with car paint :S

but seriously every modder should have a few cuts every now and then its part of the modding experience

it has to be said ive had more cuts from working on old AT pc's than i have had from modding tho

my cat once attacked me and caught the end of my finger and made the deepest cut i've ever had in my finger. There was loads of blood. How the hell my cat managed that i don't know

Reminds me of the time I was making a model kit and decided to cut towards myself with a scalpel. Blood everywhere ! must've bled about 1/4 pint

i cut the end of my thumb off once with a sickle whilst gardening, luckily it re-attached and i hve an unusual scar as a result.

there was lots of blood then too

when i was in primary school i trapped my finger in a open close desk and all the insides came out. It was well cool, it's all deformed now and i can't feel the tip. Good for playing guitar though!

Swafeman, oposite here. Hardly hurt really, just stang a bit when I was washing it. HELL of a lot of blood though. Damned CDROM drive. Will continue the modding tomorrow.

i stabbed the back of my hand with a soldering iron while soldering a vmod onto my mobo - it was really hard place to solder too with it all in case vertically with my w/c tubing in the way luckly i didnt melt any of that, just my hand
and i tryed to cut my finger off with a blunt nife while cutting some tubing but i only got a small cut

Ive done the same on a CD ROM mate, make sure you've put some TCP, or some kind of disinfectant to clean it up, as mine went pretty bad.

It's fine now. Got a bandage round it. Used loads of water to clean it up.

I don't understand how the relatively blunt edge managed to slice it so bad

Oh well. Just bought a pack of 10 5MM blue LEDs on eBay for £1.40 inc P&P So the modding will continue. One way or another. Lol.

Done this while changing a case for a m8. Was having trouble with one of the blanking plates, and then it slipped, along with my hand into the top of the case.

Quite funny thinking back, all the GF was worried about was me getting blood on the carpet :/ as it did bleed quite a bit.

Before anyone says anything, yes I know I have dirty fingernails (was done straight after work) and yes I know I have hairy hands.
