Start Menu

It's not often I use the Poll's feature on these forums, but today i'm going to use it.

We keep having new information drummed into our heads all the time by employers, lecturers, parents etc.... Continuous Improvement, Learning is a lifetime process etc.......


Continuous Improvement........

Windows has always had a nice start menu, ever since the release of Windows 95. Windows XP was released with a modified version. It shows the recently launched applications and other crap. I'm just wondering how many of you's switch this feature to Classic view each time you format your HD.

I personally can't stand the newer looking start menu. Call me old fashioned or what, but the old one was simple and straight to the point!!! It done its job, and it done it well and effeciently!!!

Me too.. It's a good way of keeping your desktop clear, whilst getting easy access to regularly used programs for those lazy types who can't be bothered to move the mouse over to "All Programs"

I've only recently moved over to this XP malarchy, and I cba to learn the new style so I just switched to the old-style. So maybe I'm the lazy type

Yep new one for me. It's the way forward
It spans the entire height of my screen at 1024x768, Lol. Got all my most used programs on it as I like a clean desktop

There isn't a "i customise option" so here mine, therefore you can all drool over it

got to be the classic one, the 'new' one takes up half the screen, and i have all the programs i need on the desktop or in the quicklaunch bar... still using 2000 for my computer tho, tried to persuade dad to put it to classic mode on his laptop but he refused silly man.

classic, the new one is, well, new and scary.

Anything I run frequently gets put on my quick launch bar, the rest I open through start > run

I can't stand the new one. I set the start menu to classic and also the theme to classic (Windows 2000). Including switching the control Panel to classic view also.

It looks like the Teletubbies have got hold of it other than that !

I also find the new look pretty hard to navigate what with only having the Recycle bin on the desktop. I like to be able to get into virtually everything by right clicking on the old style desktop items, don't think I will ever get used to the new layout and don't particularly want to either.

I don't like having the recycle bin in the bottom RHS, other than that, I don't mind most of the new features

I dont Use windows XP but i prefer the old style.

The new style is far to cluttered and big. I manually put shortcuts to all my most used apps on the desktop anyway, i rareley use the start menu at all. Serves little purpose for me, its slower to use than just double clicking on my desktop.

classic style, but then my startbar is on the left hand side of my left-most screen so im hardly normal

XP style. Give it a once over with a decent prog like StyleXP, and its far better.
