SAV! Why the **** is nobody using SAV?
    (Symantec AntiVirus (Corp))...

Same as norton, but has no splash screens, or anything, automatically downloadis and installs updates with no reboots, and only uses about 5mb of system resources. Its just a cut down norton for companys and places that need virus protection with no hassle. I'd rather have that than the rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishty systemworks which ties itself into everything into your system, impossible to remove, and makes itself known whatever you are doing.

Norton is great, I bought the 2002 version for 99p at PCW when they had a clear out last year, and u can get all the updates so its just like 2004 version, bargain.

im slightly alarmed by the amount of people that use avg. according to the latest issue (192) of computer shopper, avg6 and avg7 both did not detect several trojans when the magazine tested the software. norton antivirus 2004 (and pro) were similar, trojans are free to be run and used to control your machine. yes trojans are rarer than viruses, but at least with a virus you don't have someone snooping on your data.

the magazine rated f-secure (£35) the best, with kaspersky's antivirus (£28) gaining a best budget buy. both of which detected all the trojans and harmful scripts the magazine threw at it, just kaspersky's ui was a bit akward.

remember to keep your antivirus software updated, or else it's useless.

Computer shopper knows NOTHING my friend, its one of the worst magazines i have read on the subject. Those reviews have been bought with advertising revenues as with all magazines.

AVG free here aswell, I've used the full paying version (7.0) and there is'nt that much different. Looks a bot better (little bit slicker) and a few more options but the free version is just as effective as the paying version, and is updated regulary.

Used to use Noton a while ago, and never really liked the way it intergrated itself into every single bit of software, AVG is nice and simple, does the job admirably.
