Norton 2004. Marvellous. Super speedy operation, integrates with everything, does not slow my system down at all.

I don't like the lack of control with AVG, you apparently need to buy the damn thing to be able to control it (i.e. turn parts of the damn thing off).

    AVG. Its... well... FREE!

I have also gone for long periods without an Anti-Virus. By using the Cleaner for Trojans, being careful, and using a goof Fire Wall, I never had a problem.

Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

    dont use one myself.
if you have a good hardware firewall (like my router) then they aint needed.

viruses are only got by downloading dodgy warez car of kazzaa, porno dialers and email from ppl that have done the above (if using outlook)
stuff like blaster worm though wouldnt be prevented by not doing those things, but hardware firewall might stop it - but antivirus wouldnt have stopped it in the first place.

anti virus apps atm are all based around the stupid - the interface is more important than it acctually working. for antivirus apps to be effective they have to interfere and be generally annoying and also slow things down considerably.

software firewalls (windows based) are the same - zone alarm for example has bright yellow stupid interface, but gives the user no control and is annoying to use, and isnt THAT effective anyway..

AVG is ok (best ive tryed) - i have it installed (disabled though!!!). i do a full scan every few months (not got a virus yet!) and scan any files that appear to be dodgy.

norton is utter rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe. mc affee isnt much better - but the firewall will disable your internet if the trial version expires - something i am against - took ages for my brother to work out what had messed up his pc.

there is no point in using antivirus apps at all unless you update before you scan, if u have it on all the time update often...
