Hand luggage weight is 20kg (dependant on airline) 2 laptops will not thow you over.

You'd have to be pretty strong to carry 20kg in handluggage...and be carrying something with fairly high density to carry you over with the small bag you're allowed

Most coach class fares only allow 20-30kg total allowance for all luggage. Hand luggage is a lot less, usually between 5 and 8 kg.

I had 23kg of hand luggage when I came back with my sister. 73kg of total luggage and we got stopped by the custom. Went through the x-ray and nothing suspicious so it was fine.

The luggage was like 80% of the weight of us together

As long as you don't bugger the custom staff they won't bugger you.

That was two years ago. I suppose with the "enhanced" security now you might not be able to bring much hand luggage anymore.

Why doi have to put em both through scnner seperatly. I was looking at buying jsut the one bag and putting that through with both in.

Security. The scanner thing has nothing to do with the airlines, they just want to see if you have a bomb in them so you have to take them out of the case an into the plastic bin to get x-rayed.

bear in mind, you have to remove laptops from hand luggage to go through the Xray machine

I have travelled with a Dell and HP notebook in the same bag, no issues...

They're a lot stricter on luggage these days. Hand luggage has definate weight and dimension restrictions, and your overall weight allowances are vastly reduced. You get about 20kg per person for coach, 30kg for business and 40 for first. You're not allowed more than 30kg per suitcase.

And if they were to take munual handling legislation into account, you wouldn't be allowed more than 25LB or 11KG in a single bag. That is the offshore limits.

well they wont equal 20kg, there only 6 pounds each!! Checking in 2 bags also but will only hold clothes

Merlin, you don't understand. You're original post has been superseeded by the greater concept of luggage allowances. Can't you see it man? It's bigger than you, me, or anyone. Just let it go, it has a life of it's own now!
