Enter (well, return) key not working

right, I'm going mental because the enter/return key on my keyboard no longer works, in any application. The Enter key next to my numberpad works fine...

Before I potentially make an idiot of myself by RMAing it (it's a logitech G15! not going to bin it), is there anything I might have done to achieve this effect? You know, like activated sticky-keys or something.

I don't know if windows XP has mode called 'Stop my Return Key working for no good reason', but I'm not an expert.

BTW I don't know where to post this, it's maybe a hardware or applications or OS (most likely, user) issue. Apologies to Mods as necessary

Have you recently cleaned your keyboard? eg taking out the enter key to get rid of dust and other undesirable stuff under the key?

The keys on G15's are very dodgy. My right shift and enter key get constantly stuck. Mines actually sitting on top of my monitor while I use a £10 Logitech media elite as it's just so much nicer to type with. If I hadn't already RMA'd it once it would have gone back to scan already.

There is supposed to be a newer revision which fixes these problems. I've never even seen one though

If you can press the key down smoothly and there nothing blocking it or making it stick then the pad underneath has died, so just RMA it. Logitech are top notch on warranty stuff.

If you can't press it down, hitting it usually works.

I'd agree with mosherben. Take it to bits !

Only don't try it when you've been drinking. I did and I fixed one wonky key, but rendered three others useless. Being drunk and irritated wasn't a good mix for trying to fix it again

All things considered, you're probably best just shipping it back if it's still under warranty

I've had this problem recently with my G15. Unplugging the keyboard and then pluging back in seems to have worked for me so far.

Sticky Keys should go away after a reboot. Alternatively you can turn it off by holding two keys down together for a while.

This has happened on most laptops I have owned, normally because the little pivoting frame under the key snaps or jams. Never had it happen on a desktop keyboard though, well only if I've spilt beer in it! (3 times now, and still haven't learnt my lesson!)

    That's fixed it, thanks.

It's great having a keyboard that is so over-engineered it needs to be re-booted from time to time

Not really related to your problem but I had an issue a few years back with my wireless mouse acting like it was out of batteries, despite having new batteries in. One day I was moving my keyboard past the monitor and I noticed the picture darken nearby as it passed! Turns out the keyboard gives off a huge magnetic field that was interfering with the reciever for the mouse.

    Weird...
