    How long does a return take?

    Just wondering - I applied for a return for a faulty DVD writer on 8th July. After a little prompting on my part, I finally received an email on the 19th July, asking me to check the cables and to try the unit in a different PC (of course I had already done this). I replied within the hour, but as yet have received no reply.

    I unfortunately had to return another component to another supplier on the 8th. RMA authorization back in two hours, posted that day (Friday), refund received Tuesday 12th.

    Over a week later than this and Scan haven't even authorised a return!! Is this typical??

    The title of the email received was Query 0296409 - {A8B38B12-8EB1-49F9-BF4B-FB62E6667287}

    no generally it isnt, the slow reply is most likely down to workload, scan had a 3 day downtime due to the substation that supplies Scan and other companies on the estate failing, most customers not being able to get a returns number due to the phone system having no power opted for the OLQ return procedure which caused a knock on affect and thus its taking longer to catch up on RMA authorisations if you would like to PM me i shall see if i can speed your request along.

    Blimey, just like London buses these emails from Scan - nothing for weeks, then 3 turn up 10minutes after my post here.

    Thanks

    Unhappy

    Err I spoke too soon.

    One of the 3 emails I received last Wednesday, one asked
    for 24hrs notice to arrange a pickup. So I asked for a pickup on Friday. No reply, no courier, just an email on Monday, saying that it hadn't been possible to arrange my pickup due to "technical difficulties" (ROFL) and requesting another pickup date. No indication of how much notice Scan actually want at the moment.

    I replied on Monday asking for a pickup this Friday - is this enough notice???

    I would really appreciate knowing whether or not a courier will arrive on Friday. If not I notice my RMA expires the following Wednesday.

    I've just checked with the returns team and passed the Query number to my collegue who was dealing with it. You should have an email to the address on the query now regarding this.
