I have one of those inverters (had it for a few years now) they are great, work really well. You can use them whilst the car is off but only for about 30/45 minutes. They all have an autosense cutout so they will stop working if the battery gets to low.

Me too. I have found it wonderfully useful on many occasions, not least driving to the South of France with my daughter playing Diablo II on the laptop most of the way, no more "Are we there yet". Also arriving at our house in France and finding the electricity off but still being able to run most thing we needed (though not at once). Magic. Though don't use it for long with the engine off.

Violence and Lubrication is the solution to fixing everything, if it still doesn't work, you need more lubrication.

Deal of the week at £9.99 eh? They're also available in Poundland (although I daresay theirs only has a single socket).

yeah, maplin can be complete rip offs at times, but they do have a lot of great stuff. And when you are in a fix (like go to Glasgow without the power suply for your laptop) they have a tendancy to bail you out (at a price).

Their IDE -> SATA adapters are about £30, Scan sell the exact same thing (packaging is identical) for about £8

Question, if you plugged a home car battery charger into that socket, would the battery ever go flat?

Or would the time/space continuum get mixed up, the earth stop spinning, then everything go back in time to when digital watches were really cool?

You'll end up with a small heater and a flat battery

I've had one for a couple of years (not that model) and it's come in really useful a few times. Definitely, definitely worth getting for £10 IMHO.
