I kind of agree, and can't make mind up, however they tend to spark pretty interesting debates, so aren't sure we should get the troll junting gear out quite yet

I wouldn't worry about your weight too much, at 12 stone you should be fine for your height.... I think the People around you are a disgrace tbh, they should be supporting you not making you feel so conscious about your looks, there's no quick fix to lose weight, hard graft and willpoer the best way, forget these pills and things, why not just excercise ( even walking, it costs nothing, and if you have a Dog even better ) and eat sensibly, seems to work for the majority of us, take up a sport? Aerobics are good, I used to go.

And as for the 11 year old, i'm quite concerned that they are thinking about diets and worrying about their weight that young, they are still growing and developing at that age, they might be depleting their bodies of the necessary nutrients they need to grow.

    oh. my. god.

hang on.... weren't you the one wanting to be a doctor?

Right, first off, you haven't stopped growing yet, it's a bad BAD idea to diet when your body is still growing.

second, if you're really wanting to lose weight (which, personally, i dont think you need to, at your height and weight, you're still in your ideal bracket of your BMI) you need to do it healthily. By that, i mean, sticking to 1500 calories a day (no less!), eat plenty of fruit & veg, drink LOADS of water, and exercise for 30mins a day. This combined, will allow you to loose 1lb a week, which is healthy.

Thirdly, it may take a couple of weeks for your weight to start changing, if you loose weight rapidly over the first few weeks, it'll be due to dehydration, so make sure you drink plenty of water. Dehydration is not a healthy way of loosing weight. The weight won't come off in huge amounts, it will take a while. Make sure you stick to your healthy eating and exercise, although everything in moderation ie. don't ban yourself from eating chocolate, you'll just want it more, instead allow yourself a square of dark chocolate a day as a treat. I find that writing down everything you eat during the day helps to make sure your calories don't go too high, and you can see that you're eating plenty. If you calorie count, you'll soon find out what you can eat more of, and therefore not go hungry i.e lentils are VERY filling, and good for you, full of protein, a bowl of lentil soup and a seeded roll will keep you going all afternoon.

and lastly, don't aim to be a stupid weight like 5st. That's extremely unhealthy, especially at your height. Consult your doctor and find out what your ideal weight is. set yourself acheivable targets, maybe half a stone at a time. Oh, and only weigh yourself once a week, like on a saturday. You're heavier in the evening due to fluid retention during the day.

Oh, by the way, muscle weighs more than fat, so you may not be "obese". Your doctor can help you work out your current fat %.

Why do you actually want to be that thin anyway? Looking like a skeleton isn't attractive.
