What do you wear on your feet around the house?

My chiropractor is banning me from flip flops , they alter the way i walk and dont help my sciatica. Recommends i wear footwear that fully wraps around the foot for support..

i'm just wondering if you guys have anything you swear by or particular brands etc, before i settle for some plain cheap slipper or something

Re: What do you wear on your feet around the house?

    barefoot baby, yeah!

how much support are we talking about? Flipflops are convenient, slip on and off...anything with a back, straps or laces is just too much effort....how's about a pair of Crocs

Same here, barefoot or socks. Unless it needs a bloody good hoover.

Barefoot or socks. Although it's usually barefoot because we have a dog with a drooly chin and my socks just end up acting as sponges across the kitched floor. Otherwise I'm changing my socks 5 times a day

I must say that these are excellent... I bought some cheap imitation ones on holiday and they do the job (Fushia pink! yay!)

I can't wear slippers because my feet get too hot, and bare feet also hurts because I have no arches. (hurts my feet, and puts my knees, hips and back out of line, which doesn't help my back injury!)

Crocs are spongy and have some built in arch support so are comfortable enough for me to wear around the house, otherwise I'm in my trainers (with orthotics)

Re: What do you wear on your feet around the house?

Barefoot unless I'm going outside - in which case I'll wear the wife's Oakley flip flops. They're not normal flip flops that flip and flop though. They're the ones with the wider strap, and they tend to just sit nicely like a slipper, rather than moving about too much. They take a lot of pressure from where the toe thingy is, too.

Re: What do you wear on your feet around the house?

Socks if it's cold, barefoot otherwise - I've been recommended to avoid flip flops because my ankle/knee alignment, but I'm wearing them whilst renovations are going on, rather cause mild pain than sharp pain stepping on something I shouldn't!

and on holidays of course, it cant be helped.

Good to see they're all pretty much sold out apart from the Portugal ones.

Re: What do you wear on your feet around the house?

I wear moccasins. I have very thin-soled ones and they are more comfortable than bare feet. The point of wearing some kind of foot-covering is that they make you walk differently, and consequently you are less likely to kick something by accident and break a toe.

Also, if you live with a partner, you may find that kicking off your moccs and plopping your warm, pink feet into her* lap gets a much more positive response than flopping your grubby, hard-soled, toe-cheesy feet onto her nice, clean, white nightie.

    * Pardon sexist assumption made for convenience.
