I'm a provisional member. My current office chair is about 15 years old, and while it still does the job, it's a bit tatty. Oh alright, it's quite a lot tatty.

I'm going to drop into the Heathrow showroom next time I'm passing by with time to spare, try them out and have a good look at the options, and I'll take it from there.

    Hi wombar

I'd REALLY like the number of the dealer in HH - current chair impossible, Aeron out of sight!

Cheers and thanks for the very useful posting

I think you need to make a few more posts before I can PM you There's bound to be some more posts that you fancy chipping in on, Hexus is great!!!

Sorry that you feel that way, Wombar - you have no idea how difficult I found it to send just one message! I guess at least this means that I can avoid the ignominy of having to get my kids to tell me what a "PM" is and how it works!

    Yours, uncomfortably,

Re: What chair to replace an Aeron?

Okay, I'm not being picky, I literally can't send you the details until you've made a few more posts because that is just the way the software on this forum works. I believe you need 15 posts before you can send or receive PMs (Private Messages).

I'm not making a choice or trying to force you to make some posts, I'm simply not able to send you a Private Message (i.e. so the dealers details aren't open to public view). For your reference, a private message is a little like email, in that you have an inbox, outbox etc. It allows you to conduct private conversations through this forum that no one else can see.

I hope that clears things up...

No problem Hexus is a pretty friendly forum and there's plenty of sub forums to browse and get involved in, I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding some threads to contribute to. Send me a PM (click on my usename and choose "Send a Private Message to Wombar") when you've got the required amount of posts and I'll send along the details.

Re: What chair to replace an Aeron?

    Guys,

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I was looking for a new chair and the advise re Kinnarps has proved invaluable to me. I managed to track down the supplier of the ex-display models who was extremely helpful in guiding me through the options. I've ended up getting a 9534 for a very good price.

Keith at KGB Office Services (I cant post links yet, but google finds them) would be delighted to hear from anyone else who is interested.

Re: What chair to replace an Aeron?

Odd coincidence, I was searching for this thread earlier today as I was thinking a new chair wouldn't go amiss and remembered some discussions about good ones here.. nice one!

Re: What chair to replace an Aeron?

Haha, this thread is a blast from the past. I've bought a few chairs from Keith now, he's an absolutely top bloke and I would highly recommend anyone paying him a visit. I've bought a 6000, 8000 and a 9000 for various members of my family and got a great deal on all of them.

I've also bought a desk from him as well, and he was able to get me exactly what I needed for an absolutely fantastic price. If I can find the time, I'll tidy up my desk and post a picture.

The website is: http://www.kgb-services.co.uk/ which I hope is okay to post here

Re: What chair to replace an Aeron?

I was going to reply to this thread in 2007 but I only got as far as the first few lines, I do not remember too much about things after that except I was commited to a "Health Spa" for rest & relaxation. After years of regression therapy and hypnotism, not forgetting the electroconvulsive therapy! my Psychiatrist now thinks I am ready to confront the cause of my "episodes", so here goes!

Nine hundred quid, for a F~*#/ chair!!!!!!!!!! are you off your rocker?

And that's what you call overstating the issue by a mile. If you get a disc problem because of your chair, heavenly angels couldn't put together soft enough pillows for your sensitive spinal column.

I just wanted to throw in a vote for Aeron chairs. I start by saying I have little experience with professional chairs, and didn't sit in the Aeron long, but the one time I did.. it was better than mediocre sex. The recline feature was awesome, the tension in the chair was awesome, I was like a kid with a surprisingly awesome new toy.

Frankly, I agree you have to spend, but if Aerons still cost £900, I'd rather just spend that money on building a custom desk and sliding a couch under it.. and use the remainder on a whole freaking new pc!!
