I read once (or told by a friend)

'Rugby is a game deisgned for thugs but played by gentlemen, Football is a game designed for gentlemen but played by thugs'

Huge blow we didn't retain the cup but to get to the finals and lose by a small margin (and the closest to scoring a try by either side) is something to be proud of.

It's shame that we gave away so many penalties.. which is where the SA points came from but we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves... Well played England and well played tot he South Africans.

    the buggers...

Am I the only person who would prefer the officials to come from completely neutral contries? An Irish ref and an Aussie TV official... Although the ref seemed fair, but was the bloke who had to decide if our try was a try or not?

An Aussie would really love to give that one...

Gottsa say - watch more Rugby, the penalty count for that game was low - the issue was the SA were great at converting them to points on the board

Yeah but we gave away stupid pens. 3 pts for a slip, 3 points for a trip that the ref noticed. We gave away school boy penalties.

Although silver is nice, considering how we looked early on in the competition!

Yeah, I thought it was the knee touching the line a frame before he got the ball down. If he hadn't lifted the ball up quite as high he'd have made it.

Good game, and SA deserved the win, their lineout captain had wings, or springs on his boots or something.

Re: Lions eat Springboks, don't they?

100% he was in touch - just to confirm:

Left foot clearly touching the paint.

Now that is confirmed lets get on with it - SA won - good game - I don't want this thread turning in to a pitty one like the AB have been doing.

Re: Lions eat Springboks, don't they?

Disappointing outcome but the best team won, unfortunately.

    Well done the 'boks.

Feeling as though England is playing against 16 men is not new but I'm probably too biased anyway.

Was a great game! England played really well. But in the end I'm obviously quite glad we won!

I have no doubt the debates will rage, but in the end it was the right decision, unfortunately.

Re: Lions eat Springboks, don't they?

    Aye.
Now we need THE RFU to give Mr Ashton the time to Build on this and hopefully get a team together that can become best in the world again

There where some big positives to come out of it and other than the slip mathew tait looks a great player for the future.
