    Uni HCI Project Help

Ok so I am hoping I can call upon the heads of hexus to give me a hand and a few minutes of your time for a nudge in the right way for one of my projects.

The project is HCI based and we are required to evaluate and obatin other users view on an existing system/interface of some sort. I was actually thinking of evaluating the iPod as a lot of people have different views on apple's toy.

Depending on the kind of response I get from this I may have to put it into a questionnaire, but I'll see what you guys come up with first.

Ok so basically, what do you think of the ipod interface. Do you find it simple to use? Do you like the way you navigate around the menu's? What don't you like about it?

This is mainly aimed at the people who have used the previous version of the ipod video, I believe it's known as the 5.5 generation.

If you would prefer to pm me your views please feel free to do so.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has the time to help me out here

    Re: Uni HCI Project Help

I like it, its a simple way to navigate stuff whilst still being able to have everything easily reachable (no hidden menus, no having to go through advanced settings to find stuff). Its all logically laid out, and anyone, within minutes of using it feels at home. Scrolling is a doddle too.

    Re: Uni HCI Project Help

Not quite HCI maybe leaning towards more usability but Jakob Nielsen's stuff is always spot on and respected.

Slap in some quotes from a book or two by him and your tutors shall be very happy

    Re: Uni HCI Project Help

Its simple enough, but I find it a pain scrolling precicely to where i want it. I always end up over shooting it a few times...

    Re: Uni HCI Project Help

Aye I have read a few Jakob Nielsen bits and bobs. I will try and add some of his stuff into my report when I get all my research done.

Although to those who have given their two pence, greatly appreciated.

    Re: Uni HCI Project Help

our HCI lecturer said that the ipod was an example of an unintuitive interface - ie holding the play/pause button to turn it off other than that it's not bad, my ipod's been sitting in drawer for the past year or so tho
