You just can't get the staff

So i'm having a little work done on my flat this coming week, i work full time and don't have a car/drivers license, so I thought i'd arranged for someone to come and remove the existing structures, its not a skip worthy quantity by any extent of hte imagination, but I figured since its my 60 year old dad who's been drafted into letting the contractors have access to the flat i didn't want him to have to do any lifting etc.

Now, I've not been let down once, but twice. How F**King moronic are these people? Its not how you conduct yourself, i don't care if you don't need the money you'd agreed to do it, now i'm hardly going to sue for breech of contract, but i do get very anoyed as they try to screw me out of £120 because "a friend could do it, but would have to come all the way from kent".

So how do you get the staff?

i;ve been doing my flat for over a year mainly due to rubbish tradesmen. i feel your pain and frustration....

Best thing to do is find mates with skills, we got our entire flat sorted out in about 2 months because people knew people who were decoraters, carpenters etc.

Though TBH the caprenter was a polish immigrant who'd done alot of work for my ex landlord

Its the attitude that gets me. I would never lie to the hand that feeds me, not in such an obvious manner, he seamed a little surprised when i told him to jog on.

So now its friday night and i'm getting ready to just do it myself, group all the waste wood etc together, someone is coming to pick it up on monday 3rd time lucky eh?.

problem with getting m8's to help is if you arnt happy with their work or they always take so long to actually come round..
