Avatars...
I know this is not really the place for it, but it's a simple question i'm sure can be answered in about 30 secs...
How do you set up an Avatar? Is it hosted on the hexus server or do i host it in my web space and link to it? In my account options it just says 'no avata selected' How do i change this??I'm bored and want to faff with this now so kisses to anyone who explains this

it was set at 100 for a little while after the "incident" I believe, in order to let people who had avatars before then to get em back as soon as poss.
<---- that's my avatar (my little rank thingy) It can be aything you want - just so long as it's 120x120 or less than 2kbBTW : i did look at the faq but all it said was that avatars are 'little pictures'

Ah right, that explains why I have one but haven't quite hit 500 yet - still I'm nearly there so it doesn't really matter any more.

gah its going to take me ages to get to sodding 500. taken me3 months to get to 100. Still i've moved away from my gf and in with my parents, so my posting rate should increase dramatically.

i had an avatar, wanted to change it, now i've lost it totally.
if they just let people have one from the off maybe we wouldn't have topic after topic filled with one word posts and spam.
But an avatar is a reward for adding to the community and being generally a top guy/gal

Thats right matey. It was set to 100 posts for an av after the summer hack/reset so that the regular users could get their av's back quickly. Now its been put back to the usual 500. Unfortunately this means people with sub 500posts are a bit miffedand also that you cant change your av until you have 500 posts or it'l dissapear

I have to admit I've never had 500 posts before or after, so I've just been lucky.
and as i say it isn't really a reward, coz now i'm gonna go post 'lol' in loads of amusing topics, not really, but people do.
i personally think the post count should be hidden as it doesn't actually serve a purpose. the eve forum (www.eve-online.com) shows ur character avatar from the game and doesn't keep a post count, under each persons details it has the last 15 posts u made and thats all.
in my opinion thats a much better way to run a forum, simply because people only post when they actually have something worthwhile to say. go check the eve forum and see how little crap clogs up the board.
They have done in the past and will continue to do so and their postcount will be continually reset as a result
Naughty spammers will be poked with capt Jack Sparrows sword and then made to walk the plank
