    Calling all video enthusiasts...

I'm struggling to find a way to get some video footage from a camcorder onto my PC. I've tried the composite input on my TV card and it's pretty useless (loads of tearing, dropped frames, etc). Today I bought a dongle from Avermedia which refused to do any video (audio was fine).

I've been looking at http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=46431 as a possability, it's quite nicely priced too.

Basically I'd quite like to know what anyone else does to get video onto their PC, without a DV camera.

TV Cards are pathetic in terms of quality, so I wouldn't bother with that. However someone I know said before that he had some sort of connection box that inputs to his computer, I'll ask him when he's next online.

Looks like my mate was using the same thing as your Ebuyer link above. Works well, but use the sound input on your soundcard (so he says) cos the sound input on that is crap.

i've had some experience with a Pinnacle MovieBox DV :- http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPa...84&Langue_ID=2 though using version 8 of the Studio software, it's definately the sort of product you're after, but unfortunately i've had numerous problems getting it to work well with analogue capture (as have many other people on their forums), it keeps on mysteriously freezing, and has to be reset for it to resume capture. There are plenty of other capture devices very similar to it from other manufacturers though, hopefully without this very annoying bug (it does a great job in the brief periods of capture it manages).

perhaps one of these :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...913838-6341456 though i strongly recommend you check out some user opinions of these things first after my experience.
