Half an hour to get my keyboard working

Sit down to start work this morning at 8:30, load up PC and can't sign in to Windows, my keyboard doesn't work. Hmmm I think. Well, I'd been cleaning up yesterday, maybe I unplugged the cable whilst hoovering up behind the PC. Checked the cables, all seems fine there. Hmmm.

Software problem perhaps? I sign into Windows using the on-screen-keyboard. Check device manager and it tells me keyboard is working fine. Hmmm.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling keyboard, reboot windows, no improvement.

30 minutes later after all sorts of fiddling, it clicks! This keyboard takes batteries!

A change of batteries and I'm up and running. Lesson learnt: check batteries first.

    Hey, it's Monday morning!

Re: Half an hour to get my keyboard working

Sounds like a fun start to the week!

I once had a problem where my cordless mouse seemed to be suffering from lack of battery power, but no amount of changing would fix it.... This came and went for months until one day I was moving my Keyboard past the monitor when the screen darkened and stretched slightly... Turned out I had a magnetic keyboard which was causing interference in the nearby mouse sensor, I slid it away and I've never had a problem since!

    Bloody weird magnetic keyboard!

    Were you awake?

Re: Half an hour to get my keyboard working

took me 45 mins to get my monitors working this morning, we've had a bit of a move round in the office this morning. One was working, but the other wasn't...

    oh dear.

might possibly be because I'm suffering with a severe lack of sleep.

Re: Half an hour to get my keyboard working

We've all done it, my g.f's PC "died" recently after just having the motherboard changed under warrenty.

turns out that all that was wrong is the fact the circuit breaker plug went the day before and meant the board's capacitors weren't draining, quick hold down of the power button and poof, all fixed...

I thought you were having gearbox troubles?! and for exhausts the best place to go is, just past the Police station on the left. They did the exhaust system on the impreza.

Re: Half an hour to get my keyboard working

very weird, same experience happened to me today. while messing with midi connections on the pc I realized my sound isn't working. I thought maybe it needs a reboot. 20 mins later and after a few reboots and reinstallations of the sound card drivers. I checked, my speakers were on and plugged in, light was on, but it was on the bare minimum....

Very eerie now I think of it.
