eBay Fees on the Rise Again

Well, just had another email from eBay, and what a joke this is.

If they weren't taking enough money before this is just a laugh. So you can save 5p on the initial fee they are going to be charging a fair few quid more on the final valuation fees.

eBay.co.uk - Sell Hub - Changes to Pricing

Just another thing to annoy me about eBay.

The sad truth is I normally have to charge more for P&P to counter-act the fees and it's just so bad...
Especially when they basically channel people to buy via paypal as well!!! They must be making a mint.

Re: eBay Fees on the Rise Again

Ebay and paypal are so entrenched in the market that any competition would have to be more reliable and offer even more features as well as be cheaper to tempt people to switch. Especially some - if not most - sellers value the feedback that they have collected until now.

I try to use eBay as little as possible. Just advertise on forums specific to the item I'm selling.

Use ebay as a marketing tool for your website.

Sell on ebay, but make sure you mention your website, and make your prices cheaper on the website than your ebay listings.

E.g. high p&p on ebay, free p&p on website.

Ebay don't allow direct hyperlinsk, but you can watermmark all your images with your url, and mention "look on our website for more details"
Works well for me, I get lots of questions and response from ebay; I just direct them all to the website.

Re: eBay Fees on the Rise Again

Why did Yahoo auctions pull out of europe etc? was it that they were losing money
from it or just not making much.

It would be nice if someone could licence their auction tech and rebrand it.

Repost, but basically I agree that it's a shame there is no competition around this part of the world.
