    Re: Percentage Maths Help

Also if its preflop this scenario is impossible... only AA will have around 75% chance of winning against one other player... and even if the third player is dominated, he will still have more than 25% against the player without AA (assuming he is playing a playable hand)

    Re: Percentage Maths Help

    ok guys.

The information about hands beating hands has been calculated already (i wrote a program to grind through every possibility for every hand, it took a while to run ) 1 vs 1.
Doing it for up to 8 players would take days to run and the file it would produce would be astronomical!
Is there any way of properly calculating from these 1vs1 percentages a 1 vs 2 or more percentage?

    Heres an example.

    P1 has AA
    P2 has 76 suited
    P3 has KQ offsuit

    P1 vs P2 = 0.775254 vs 0.224746
    P1 vs P3 = 0.871198 vs 0.128802
    P2 vs P3 = 0.407840 vs 0.592160

the remainding percentages in each case is the percentage of a draw.

Now how can i work out the overall chance of P1 beating P2 and P3, and likewise for P2 and P3?

If there is no easy solution... Use simulation
and there is no easy solution for multi-way pots

    Re: Percentage Maths Help

I didn't mention poker because the game is irrelevant im only after the mathematical probability.

With the above example using SiM's method ive calculated

    P1 67%.
    P2 9%
    p3 7%

    thats not right

    Re: Percentage Maths Help

How many simulations? You realise you need to do about 10000 before you get an accurate estimate... law of large numbers dude!

    Re: Percentage Maths Help

    Take a look here:
    Poker Odds Calculator - PokerCalculatorOnline.com
this does it for you although I doubt that it does enough simulations

    Re: Percentage Maths Help

that was using your combining percentages method

im really not looking to simulate up to 8 players. To be totally accurate i'd have to go through millions of possibilities.

    Its a doozer!
