I'd be surprised if they were in there more than 20 years... but I agree, they should be left to rot in jail / death penalty.
Hope they rot in jail, I've dressed 'goth' most of my life (dad was a biker, mum was a hippy; so no surprises there).
Luckily for me I've always been a big bloke so never got as much abuse as some people, still I've been in some pretty brutal fights over nothing more than the way I dress, which isn't remotely extreme, I'm a jeans and t shirt kinda guy, never really went for the tons of jewelry and make-up look. Have had some pretty mad hairstyles mind.
I don't know a single person of the goth/rocker persuasion who doesn't have scars and tales to tell; all coming from nothing more than differing clothes and musical taste. Never heard of a group of 'goths' ganging up on anyone and beating them to death. It's pathetic, and saddening when a young girl loses her life over it.
Utterly tragic, and unbelievable. It's like that case where three people beat to death a guy with learning disabilities in Sunderland- you just can't believe that people would do something so abhorrent. Who in their right mind would boot a girl in the head while she was trying to help her boyfriend?
The real shame of it is the the law of the jungle seems to have been allowed to prevail across much of England.
I remember when it happened. Its close to where my brother now lives.
SOmething really sick is taht during the trial the mum of one of the boys who was guilty of it thought it was really funny and was laughing. Is it any wonder that kids are getting worse when the parents act like that
We used to have a very effective way of controlling their numbers.
It was quite simple. Have a major war every couple of decades and conscript them into the infantry. A couple of nasty messy years in the trenches/desert etc. later they are back down to manageable numbers.
Unfortunately with the modern technology we have today this is no longer as effective.
Another part of this case that I think is saddening, is that before the attack took place, all the kids were hanging out together. So they go to socialising with the 2 goths, to deciding to kick the hell out of him (then her, when she tries to defend her bf), crazy (in a scary way.)
I felt sick when I read this, and I have a strong stomach.
If this isn't good enough reason for the death penalty I don't know what it. Those kids who did this simply do not deserve to live.
Disgusting. If it was my girlfriend they'd be thankful for each day they had in prison because when they came out, I'd be waiting.
in a related note, there are currently large, violent anti-emo riots spreading across mexico

Poor poor girl.....Goth is irrelevent. The lass was a human being, and she was a girl.

& seriously, worst thing is how many decent lads sent off to the two world wars would have actually deserved the chances modern kids like this are getting instead. or lived through the fighting & too often are among those being bullied today.

What has happened in the last few years, maybe I'm getting old but it just seems like kids have no conscience or boundaries... nothing justifies this! I can understand violence if your defending people you love but this I just want to swear... EVIL NASTY PSYCHO CHAVS! I hope they get life, and get the hell kicked out of them on a daily basis in prison. I have a lot of gothic friends, all lovely and the thought of this happening to them is terrifying.
terrible, absolutely terrible and appalling.
i cant help but put some blame onto the parents, chav culture is getting more and more out of hand. these need to be put under control.
I don't think it's that your getting old, so much as when I was leaving school (4/5 years ago now) I noticed the younger kids were nothing like we were at their age.
No respect for upper school kids (who were super scary at the time..for us anyway), no repect for teachers, bus drivers.. anyone. It's like they think they are untouchable, which I suppose with all these new school rules etc.. isn't actually far from the truth.
As bazz said.. if that had been my girlfriend I'd be going the punisher style on them as soon as they got out. They deserve to understand that kind of pain and I hope that a big lad called butch introduces them to some good old fashioned prison punishment day in day out.

Sometimes in these cases I feel that capital punishment is appropriate, if not then life imprisonment. However knowing our justice system they may only get 20 years.
Probably less than 10, just to take the ****
