It happens mate.
Stephen Hawkings was the same as you, and all his mates said dude, stop it or you'll get stephen hawkings disease, and he was like yeah, as if.
And then he got stephen hawkings disease.
Ironic.
And look what happened to Michael J Fox, Stephen Hawkings told him to stop time travelling, told him he'll get time travelling disease, and he was like boo, you're just jealous because you've got stephen hawkings disease.
So he went time travelling and now he's got time travelling disease.
Its runined his life. He can't play Operation now, although he is much better at Hungry Hungry Hippos.
I have all of the above myself Jay. I put it down to stress.
Its hard to say without knowing your exact situation, ie how extreme your symptoms are but if its really worrying you then see your dr.
Aim for 7-8 hours sleep a night (the hours before 12 are more valuable). Any more or less will just make you even more tired. Try some relaxation techniques, milky drink etc.
a walk before bed is supposed to be good, & allow enough time to wind down a bit in the evening. are you worrying about stuff you can maybe sort (work &c) or is it just being prone to anxiety over anything & everything? as icanhazburger says, it's easy to start associating going to bed with not sleeping so you'll subconsciously worry about that too. a bit like trying to make yourself relax - it has the opposite effect if you're trying too hard. some people are always better in the evenings & useless in the morning (i always have been) but if you've only noticed this recently you might have just got your body clock a bit out of synch. like JK suggested boring stuff can help - maybe listen to some boring radio (radio 4 - maybe not Today in Parliament, heh), or talking/relaxation tapes.
Set aside time before bed to chill out. Listen to music, or read something, just don't do anything work-related at all. I find playing computer games gets me too wired to sleep, too, so if you're gaming into the night, try to stop earlier so you have time to wind down.
Are you eating enough during the day? Do you have breakfast? Drinking enough water? Simple stuff like that can make a big difference to how you feel/ how your brain performs.
I know what it sounds like, but how on earth do you expect a diagnosis over the internet by people who aren't qualified. See your GP that's what they are there for.

To be honest, it sounds like you're stressed, and quite badly at that. If there's nothing in your life that you conciously consider stressful (work, relationship etc.) then it's possible that something is bothering you without you being aware. If that's the case then only conselling will help because you need to discover what it is that's getting to you.

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you, so stop worrying about it. It's worrying about not sleeping that is stopping you from sleeping!
Eat more fruit and vegetables, and get more exercise.
I used to have this but then i started hitting the gym and i was out like a light nearly every night. Hope you find something that works for you

As monkey just said, try doing some physical stuff during the day if you don't. Being mentally tired is pretty common these days but being physically tired is rare for most.
Also, do you eat regular meals? Do you eat a lot of white bread / processed foods? Try and cut down on them if you do, eat more natural stuff, brown bread etc. What time do you normally have dinner in the evenings?
