    Re: thunder storm?

I am in Tanzania at the moment and it's the rainy season. Yesterday the weather forecast was for Thunderstorms 100%, and it was pretty accurate. I am working in a modern concrete, steel and glass building on the 8th floor and yesterday at about midday a storm started with a bang that I seriously thought was a bomb. The floor shook, the windows rattled and there was a blinding flash. If I hadn't already been empty I would have filled my pants. No-one else even looked up.

    Re: thunder storm?

In South Australia (where I'm originally from) we used to get some doozies, I used to sit on the back step and watch them roll over the Adelaide plains. I remember one night when we had a thunderstorm and a small earth tremor that was interesting

    Re: thunder storm?

I was driving up the A1 to Yorkshire a few years back and a lightning bolt hit a puddle on the road in front of me.

    Re: thunder storm?

Another interesting thing. I have a mate in Luxembourg (where Dog Soldiers was filmed) whose brand new (well, 2 months old) Audi A6 was hit by lightning and completely written off. Audi reckoned that the wiring loom is so much a part of the car that it wasn't worth repairing, and gave him a replacement.
