    thunder storm?

    oh my holy days!
sat here merrily typing away with my coursework.. and suddenly there's almightly flash and a huge sound of thunder literally straight after it.. i've NEVER heard thunder like it.. i'm actually shaking from the shock i got from it!

does anyone else live near me and hear this thunder?

You should be nicer to our EU brothers and sisters! Just because the Polish people are moving here in droves isn't any reason to torture them!

Loved it when I was back in school and there was a storm. Impossible to concentrate! Used to end up just tuning out and counting how far away the lightnight was.

the first strike round here was about 1/2 a mile away.. if that, was literally just after the flash!
it is 1second per mile isn't it?

    it's still grumbling away..

    Re: thunder storm?

Saw a thunderstorm in New York, cable TV give you a warning message to say it was coming advising you keep away from windows and doors - something I ignored.

I was staying in the suburbs - a street with houses and trees, very nice. So my face was up against the window watching the lighting. The tree in front of the house was hit by lighting a few branches fell off. But even more impressive was the fact that the power cables for the houses were on poles running the length of the street, when the lighting hit the tree something 'popped' on each of the poles sending sparks flying scared the what not out of me - I never stand by a window during a thunderstorm nowadays.

    Re: thunder storm?

The closest strike I ever saw was in the field out the back of my house. Bright light in the distance then "I'M BLIND!". I think it took about 30 seconds before I could see anything again
