Oh dear. In that case I would definitely apply the Sam rule of thumb for 'spare' monies, which states that 50% = on sensible purchases* & the other 50% = on unjustified but cheering self up reasons.

I would definitely go with unjustifiable purchases for a treat!
One thing you could do is sell them on Ebay, sure you'll take a hit on their value, but you'll end up with cash instead....and then there are REAL possibilities!

Just been round John Lewis this morning. Was looking at pearls to replace a pearl necklace I bought my wife years ago. She came over and dragged me away, pointing out that they were fake ones (doh!).
Thomas the Tank Engine Duplo looked pretty cool for son, but he has about 12 miles of Tomy track already. Otherwise, a decent iPod speaker dock thing looked probably about the best bet.
Didn't spend them today, therefore. Holding back. The food suggestion is looking like a good one.
