Two Years No Claims Bonus for the Price of One?

    Alright folks,

I'm in need of some guidance, a cousin of mine use to be with an insurer a few years ago, can't recollect who, where he got 2 years no claims bonus instead of the usual one year bonus. I'm pretty sure that's what he said and he's a good man, not a single bad bone, he's on holiday at the moment.

As I'm coming upto insurance renewal, less than a week away, I know I should not have left it this late but is there such a thing as this? If so, any ideas on who do this and whether their a reliable insurer, e.g. payouts stress-free, touchwood don't need it.

It's just that I'll have two years no claims bonus as of next week, hopefully, touchwood. Without 4 years no claims, I can't protect it and hence was wondering if there is anybody who will do a 2 for 1 as such so next year I can hopefully protect my no claims, touchwood.

All comments, criticism and help appreciated. Thanks!

Only time i've heard of this is for first time insurance to get you from the 0 years no-claims to 2 years as quickly as possible, don't think you could do this when you've already had insurance.

I think you also only get it if you stay with the same insurer (i.e. the bonus year no-claims only counts with that insurer).

First insurance I ever took out was a 9 month policy that gave 1 years no-claims - but at the end of the 9 months I could only use the no-claims with that insurer and they were v.expensive - was cheaper to move insurers and lose the ncb.

No claims years is at the option of the insurer. The only way it can happen is if you have a renewal that states the no claims you have.

I have 7 but been driving for 5 years

How did you get the extra two years no claims and who were you with when you received it?
Did you also manage to transfer that to another insurer?
Did you pay extra for this service?

    Thanks!

Re: Two Years No Claims Bonus for the Price of One?

    1) got it from Renault with a free insurance deal - it was as a result of the cheeap renewal they offered me.
    2) yes, as long as it states it on your renewal then it can be used
    3) No I didn't but you can't BUY it, you can earn it as normal or your current insurer can give you free years in order to make your renewal cheaper.

Note, Renewal is an important word here, it won't be something they do unless its a renewal and its not a widespread policy amongst insurers, its basically at your CURRENT insurance discretion.
