Whilst at uni i wrote a letter to the Liscencing people saying i had a TV, VCR and at the time an N64. I said, "I have these things, i won't use them to watch televsion or record broadcasts. They will only be used for watching pre-recorded tapes and playing computer games." When the inspectors came round i showed them a copy of the letter and the reply i got from them and they were quite happy.

Men get breast cancer as well. It's more common than you might imagine. Don't tempt fate. Any Cancer research is to be encouraged and welcomed, as are Cancer prevention education programmes. It's a rotten disease that any one of us may suffer and in the way that comparison has been used here, is, shall we say, unfortunate.

revol68: I have an idea, it's a good one, try this. Instead of being bound within the working class ethic - break out! All you have to do is work for yourself, come up with a good idea or two, work bloody hard for a few years and voila! Instant middle class

Oh, but the guilt, the guilt, no longer will you be able to moan at the terrible injustice of it all cos you will be one of them.

But, on the up side, you'll have a nice house, drive a nice car, be able to afford all the booze you like and upgrade your 9600XT to a 9800XT.

    Sounds good eh?

Go on, you know you want to

rev tv licencing is entirely fair. tv is a luxury that you can easily live without, much like owning a car, having new clothes or going out drinking. if everything was more expensive for thosw who were richer then what insentive would people have to do well? i'd suggest you think before you post about the practicalities of your solutions.

if everyone was middle class the economy would fall apart....

and fashion and music would go dow the sh*tter.

rise with ur class not above it.

the middle class are so bloody boring anyway i'd rather stick my head in a blender than drive a people carrier/ 4x4 round Chelsea and read the daily mail (actually the mail is more for working class people who think they are middle class cos they own a mock tudor house and work in an office) or telegraph

how about when the money finds a cure for cancer, and then if u get it, you can be cured, instead of being left to die from something that isn't your fault..

A Staff Nurse in London gets at least £25K per annum.

Fashion and music would go down the rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishter? You mean they haven't?

Oh revol, you're so bound up in your working class rightousness, you can't see the wood for the trees.

Yes, action brings reaction, for sure, be involved in protests, join the Communist Party, even get violent, but it won't get you anywhere, people have been trying for 100's of years. There have been some limited successes, such as when Wat Tyler gathered the good men of Kent and Essex on Blackheath to march into London in protest at the Poll tax all those years ago. But he ended up getting topped

To fight the system, you must be within it.

I'm from so called working class parents, raised on a Council Estate in SE London, it's not so bad.

And what you gonna do if ever you realise your objectives and right all the wrongs? No, I don't want to think about that, it'll be the USSR all over again.

And FWIW, at heart I'm a Socialist. I think.
